An alternative to government health care would be no insurance, just cash for service. You’d get a lot more doctors and medical profs hanging out shingles in low income areas and people would get what they pay for. Prices would go way down.

If catastrophic illnesses and accidents were seen as a part of life, their treatments would be more careful, less throw everything at it, and cheaper. Doctors could make great upper middle class incomes and get tax benefits from service on the emergency or catastrophic patients.

What if a horrible car accident with multiple surgeries was “reasonable” cost because the entire medical profession saw these occurrences as humans all helping people in such a state? What if a goodly %age of the labor and the parts were tax write offs for the companies and doctors? Just another way to look at it. The insurance paradigm (we pay all this all the time to you, you get rich, when we need your help you fight us tooth and nail) really doesn’t work well.

My dad was a doctor too. Truly there is no other profession where the person’s work is called a “natural right” of other people. It’s sickening really.

Who is “you,” and who is “we?”

I’m not sure this guy would ever figure out the fundamental problem here even as he’s getting herded into a boxcar at gunpoint.

EXCELLENT POINT.

If my mom (alzheimers 10 years now) has some kind of cancer, which she may well have, I don’t even want to know.

Bloomberg is saturating the Florida airwaves with commercials. Sounds like Trump needs to counter them and let Florida seniors know how Bloomberg doesn’t value their lives. As a senior with a spouse undergoing cancer treatment i find this frightening.

I would think that withdrawing medical coverage for those 95 years old would hardly put a dent in total healthcare payments. But the soap box short guys 5’4” now your talking!

Exactly right. My husband turned 65 in June. Retired after 45 years of working and paying taxes. Four months later he’s diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. They have advanced treatments now. If they go down this road, how long before the keep incremently lowering the cut off age.

And over time, that number will become 94, then 93, 92, 91, ...Then are you a Party member? You must give us your bank account, your home and your family must pay.

Exactly. When I researched Medicare and why it was passed what came up is that insurance companies did not want to insure old people. Why? Because there is no profit to be had.

Capitalism is the best economic system out there but it doesn’t work when there’s not a profit motive or you cannot have competition.

Now that he's alienated minorities, women, and senior citizens of his party, exactly who is supposed to be his base? Judge Judy?
