Japanese and Chinese at highest risk for Coronavirus

What is your risk to get infected coronavirus?

East Asians, Japanese, and Han Chinese are the most likely people to become severely sick by the coronavirus with a chance of more than 90% when exposed. Europeans only rank in the 50%, Africans in the 60% range, and considered low to medium. It also makes a difference if one is a smoker or non-smoker.

The Travel and Tourism industry is in turmoil. Tourism leaders don’t want anyone to panic, but the story doesn’t yet have an end to it.

At the same time, researchers are working around the clock to learn more about the deadly virus. Recent studies may explain why Europe, America had no deadly cases of the virus, and no coronavirus cases at all were reported from Africa.

Stopping travel may not be the solution and could only mean travel businesses could become collateral damage in the fight against coronavirus. The World Health Organization always said “do not stop travel and commerce.”, even after WHO declared a global epidemic emergency.

Why is this?
The novel coronavirus (2019-nCov) was identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China in December of 2019.

This new coronavirus has resulted in thousands of cases of lethal disease in China, with additional patients being identified in a rapidly growing number internationally.

2019-nCov was reported to share the same receptor, Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), with SARS-Cov.

Here based on the public database and the state-of-the-art single-cell RNA-Seq technique, the ACE2 RNA expression profile in the normal human lungs. The result indicates that the ACE2 virus receptor expression is concentrated in a small population of type II alveolar cells (AT2).

Surprisingly, studies found that this population of ACE2-expressing AT2 also highly expressed many other genes that positively regulating viral reproduction and transmission.

A comparison between eight individual samples demonstrated that the Asian male one has an extremely large number of ACE2-expressing cells in the lung. This is based on an unfinished study by Yu Zhao, Zixian Zhao, Yujia Wang, Yueqing Zhou, Yu Ma, Wei Zuo and published by Bio Rxiv:

A second study investigates how and why the virus will enter the human body, by Michael Letko, Vincent Munster

Apparently the coronavirus enters a human body through some connection with something called the ACE2 receptor. East Asians and men have more than say white Europeans and women. Being a white woman seems to be the way to have much lesser risk.

According to this study and based on the assumption in this study and in regards to the receptor, Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2, human populations where samples were available were categorized by risk in obtaining a dangerous version of the virus. Most ill may not feel more than a common cold, for others Coronavirus can be fatal.

According to this preliminary study the risk of obtaining the virus:

High risk 90%-99%
Japanese in Tokyo, Japan
Southern Han Chinese
Kinh in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Han Chinese in Bejing, China
Chinese Dai in Xishuangbanna, China

I agree, it sounds like B.S. to me. The lesser risk group have had lesser amounts of exposure.

I’d guess it’s behavior-related (did they visit China lately). Either that or maybe all men were not created equal.

“Why Utah lower risk than England”

Reads like they had a single data point for Utah....

...but, my wild unfounded conjecture would be that drier, lower oxygen, and potentially higher acidic climate in much of Utah would tend to be less virus friendly than damp, cold, mossy old England...regardless of ACE2 receptor count.

But I am neither a doctor nor do I play one on TV. I have however, stayed at an HI Express, but not lately.

This study is complete garbage. Other than Chinese and a few others, the groups listed have no statistical validity. "Utah Residence (Caucasians)" Really?

....we stay clear of people who have been there recently (and are much more likely to be infected than the general public) and if we do come across infected people, we try to minimize our contact time and the number of those we do come across.

How many infected people have you come across? And, how did you know that they were infected?

For example, why is Utah considered lower risk than England?

The British were the colonial rulers of southeast Asia. As a result, there may be significant genetic mixing. Also, because of GB's historic ties to southeast Asia, a lot of Asian's from that area live in the UK. Indeed, according to Wikipedia, almost 7% of the UK population is Asian.

Antihistamine effect of supplemental ascorbic acid and neutrophil chemotaxis.

Is it good or bad?

Well, I did a DNA analysis via 23andMe and it is amazing how precise they can be with geography.

Ancestry, 23andMe, and other genetic testing companies sell their data to the Chinese, enabling them to further refine their bio-weapons.

We have elderly people who don’t attend church during flu/cold season. Our pastor has a pod cast for them

It begs to ask ‘does smoking cause the lungs to produce more ACE2 receptors as the original ones are stressed with pollutants?’

The nationality % chart is interesting but what does it mean?

If British are at 61%, that means they are at 61% likelihood to have a high number of ACE-2 receptors?

But what is High vs normal or low?

And are you less likely to get sick if you have normal ACE-2 receptors as opposed to high? And if you do get sick, does that mean you won’t get as sick?

From the link: "These data indicate that VC (vitamin C) may indirectly enhance chemotaxis by detoxifying histamine in vivo. (Taking massive doses of VC can aid in resistance and recovery where histamine effect on lung function is measured.)

There is a huge genetic difference between Southeast Asia and South Asia.

South Asians are Hindu/Muslims from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. In the UK, they are known as Asians. Chinese, Malaysians, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Koreans are known as Orientals.

“This is China getting rid of the aged and sick”

Gordon Chang wrote a book called the coming collapse of China (about ten years ago).

China’s pig production collapsed and they just agreed to buy a lot of agricultural products from the US. Their economy is collapsing. I don’t think Xi intended to buy all that and have his economy drained. This is China reducing its population. Wonder if Xi and friends have been administered a vaccine.
