Can officials (elected or otherwise) who enforce "sanctuary city" laws and, in doing so, break federal law be prosecuted individually?

One of the greatest flaws in US law is the ability of officials to hide their transgressions behind the fact that they are officials and thus escape criminal or civil action themselves.

The ones who are endorsing these sanctuary policies need to PERSONALLY pay the price. If the common citizens see some of the “higher-ups” going to jail for things like this, then it might renew a little faith in our justice system; something that’s been sadly lacking.
