I hope they’re prepared to confiscate oil filters as well.

They will go door to door and confiscate suppressors because they are registered and therefore can be found.

VA State Police will become Northam’s Gestapo.

From the article: The public relations official did not respond with a direct answer “yes” or “no” on going door-to-door. Rather, she said, “[No laws] have gone into effect, no laws have been formalized or finalized.”

I think this conversation is jumping to the conclusion that the police will be going door to door.

Does anyone really think the VA state cops will say they will be going door to door for a law that has yet to be enacted?

This is all supposition on what the cops did not say about a law not yet passed.

Now the answer to this is already posted by others, no, they will not go door to door. All they need is the federal records of who has them, get warrants, and go to those specific homes with known owners of a suppressor. But the cops are not stupid, they will first ask for voluntary surrender, then only go to homes that did not surrender.

Keep in mind I do not agree with any of this, as it directly opposes the 2nd A. But a little common sense is also necessary to prevent the hysteria.

Put them in a safe deposit box in another state and let them waste their time looking for them.

Well this explains why all my friends in Virginia own fake dogs full of tanerite.

Wouldn’t they still need a warrant?

The VSP should answer this: “For the years 2000 through 2019, what is the average annual number of homicides committed in Virginia by means of firearms equipped with sound suppressors? Provide a comprehensive list of cases included in your figures.”

Thing is, if you have to fire your weapon to protect yourself, you’re screwed.

This is the point of Suppressor registration, so they may be confiscated when it is desired they be confiscated.

There is no significant amount of crime committed with suppressors/silencers.

The idea there is a "public safety" reason to register or ban suppressors/silencers is factually false.

Hahaha. Yea, okay. Knock on the door with no warrant and ask people to politely hand over something?

Who do they think they are FDR taking people’s gold?

the Virginia State Police public relations department did not rule out knocking doors to enforce a suppressor ban.
