To recap, Buttigieg is saying possession of heroin and meth would be legal, but the distribution would not be legal.
Wallace pressed to ensure that Buttigieg was being understood correctly.
You would say that possession of heroin is not illegal, the Fox News host said, to make clear.
Not going to be dealt with through incarceration, Buttigieg replied, coming up just short on saying it would be legal, but stressing there would be no punitive action that involves jail.
Wallace noted that the candidates website says decriminalize it, prompting more doublespeak from Buttigieg.
Yes, he answered. Or it could be a misdemeanor. The point is not the legal niceties, the point is weve learned through 40 years of a failed war on drugs that criminalizing addiction doesnt work.

He's one of those typical "outright libertarians". Look that phrase up with a search. You'll get more than enough hits instantly from that phrase. We had more than a few of them ranting around here and even a few recently.

"Legalize all drugs and outlaw all guns. What could possibly go wrong?"
Yes, that's the trend in the states that legalized dope.

Most drug addicts are dealers, too, and quite slippery. Having them labeled as criminals and afraid of being busted has been the only way for many parents to rescue their kids from coerced or forced addiction, slavery and certain death.

"The way I look at it, we either unban drugs, or we execute drug dealers via an expedited trial and appeals process (3 years start to finish) and force drug users to detox. Anything in between is an expensive muddle and a resource drain."
Alright, I'm a little closer to that position. But we're very close to doing the former now. There's a lot of tolerance out there. Add a policy of open season on all distributors including addicts giving as little as one pill to someone else, and I'm in.

So, will I be able to get any patent medicines without a doctor’s prescription? Didn’t think so. Hypocrite!
To: Libloather
Alas, Buttigieg cannot decriminalize heavy drugs, it will take a Republican to do that. Whoever does it, decriminalization is inevitable.
The sooner the saner.

It’s not “Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll” for a young Peter.
It is “Weird sex, all drugs, and cocks & balls”. His Marxist father would be proud of him. A little “Red Diaper Weirdo Baby” - a chip off the old Communist Bloc.
I was wondering when he was going to go “psycho” on us and he just did, much like Liz “I’m aka as Princess Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring” Warren did and as Lunch Barf Bucket Joe is doing now.
I want the movie rights to this group of “Killer Clowns From Outer Space”.

Maybe Ive got a bit of libertarian in me, but I think a person should be able to do what they want with their own body

Nope; I’m fine with that, in fact I think the government should legalize all of them Heroin, Meth, Cocaine, etc.
Legalize all of them then sell them out of government licensed drug stores, only sell the purest product at rock bottom prices
BUT; anybody convicted of ANY crime to get money for drugs gets life imprisonment on a CHAIN GANG.
NO TAX PAYER MONIES are to be used for rehab or treatment of any kind.
Closest relative is 100% responsible for disposal of any corpses due to OD or suicide.
If that’s the way they want to live, I say go for it, just don’t make me responsible for their poor life choices.

Legalize all of them and sell them out of Government Drug Stores, only pure product at rock bottom prices (perhaps even subsidize it), get the money while cutting the illegal dealers out of the business.
1: Put the illegal dealers out of business
2: Keep all the money for the Treasury.
3: Pure product guarantees more OD’s
4: Darwin awards to all of them.

[Most of drug users, especially in 19th century were upper class, wartime soldiers that got shot up with morphine or ill advised doctors prescription. It was around the 1920s where heroine and other hard drugs was distributed to the entire masses, especially to the lower class slums and white teens. ]
What I’ve read indicates that availability was universal, and that the lower classes were heavy users. For the simple reason that the upper classes were where they were not just because they were generally more intelligent, but because they had superior judgment and self-control. Drugs are expensive today for the same reason that alcohol cost an arm and a leg during Prohibition - the cost of avoiding law enforcement. Before legal restrictions, drugs were readily available to every stratum of society.

A war lost decades ago that cost more money than World War II, more casualties than the Civil War, more years than Afghanistan, more civil disregard for the rule of law than Vietnam.
Double down, double down again, and yet again, this time we will surely win this war!
