Until recently, I spent much of my time working hard to elect Democrats to public office — but the early presidential campaigning pushed me away from the party, as well prompting my resignation from the board of Democrats for Life, where I had served since 2014.
For someone who is progressive on most issues, this decision doesn’t come easy. Like most Democrats, I believe government has an energetic role to play to support women, families and children. I support paid family leave, help with unaffordable child care, labor-union rights, the Affordable Care Act, child and adoption tax credits and much else of the kind.
I’m worried about climate change. I’m an outspoken vegetarian. I believe in welcoming refugees and immigrants. I oppose needless wars.

Let’s be honest. Basically, Republicans mostly pretend to be pro-life. They don’t do anything about it, and they probably never intend to.

The Party has moved to the extreme left in these last few years. Trump's trolling has worked amazingly. Trump just sticks his toes right up to the line with a joke or an iffy statement and they and their media fall for it Hook Line and Sinker. It has forced them into Anti-American positions time and time again.
The fact that the mainstream media has also gone rabidly left also works against them. Thus it is harder than ever to tack to the middle for cover as they typically do every election season (also sooo predictable). The mainstream media will smear anyone who is not orthodoxically an Anti-American leftist these days.

There is a pro life Democrat in the West Virginia house of delegates, I’ve actually voted for him because he does vote for pro life issues and has a proven track record.
