Utah Sen. Mitt Romney, the only Republican to vote to convict President Trump on abuse of power during the impeachment trial this week, said he expects he'll face "unimaginable" consequences for breaking with his party.
"I don't know what theyll be, there's some I know," Romney said in an interview released by New York Times's "Daily" podcast Thursday, when asked what consequences he anticipates from the decision.
"I know they'll be consequence and I just have to recognize that and do what you think is right," Romney added.

"Not voting my conscience in order for me to have a better political and personal benefit would subject my own conscience to its censure," Romney said, on his decision to break from his party.
"So I just, I don't have a choice there. This for me is fundamental to my oath to God and fundamental to how our country must work, which is people have to be seen as honest in fulfilling the oath that they take," he said.

he feels good to wallow in his holier than thou sanctimonious self righteousness
Can somebody please inform Romney that he is NOT there to vote his conscience. He is there to represent what the people want him to do. If he can’t get that through his thick skull, then he needs to find a different line of work.
BTW, that goes for everybody in the Fake Congress.
They were ready to shove Jeb down our throats after that.
Thank God for Donald Trump.

Amen, that was exactly what they had planned.
Love Mark, too.
He is a treasure.
It makes a person wonder if his religious believes, he so much relies on, guided him while laying off people. Some may call him a two faced hypocrite. There are days he may claim to like you while on another day he may stab you in the back and while he is at it, twist the knife a few times.
Senator Mitt Romney profited roughly $20K for each American laid off via his firm Bain Capitol
Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT), who supported convicting President Donald Trump in the Senate impeachment trial, profited thousands of dollars every time an American worker was laid off from their job after investments by his firm Bain Capital.
While head of Bain Capital between 1984 and 1999, Mitt Romney helped win giant profits for investors that ultimately left small and medium-sized American companies bankrupted and forced to lay off thousands of American workers.
According to a rough estimate by AOL Finance, conducted in 2012, Romney earned about $20,000 for every American worker who was laid off as a result of Bain Capital’s investments:
Romney himself profited handsomely from his time running Bain Capital. Although the exact details of his personal finances are not available, news reports estimate his net worth at somewhere between $190 and $250 million, much of it derived from his Bain Capital days. Very rough math might suggest that Romney made as much as $20,000 per job lost.
McConnell is right to say nothing. Republicans still need his vote on issues and legislation in the Senate. Let him spew for a few days and then just use him as a vote until...
....maybe the people of Utah can pass a recall law immediately and then recall this turd. The Gov can appoint a patriot pro-Trump senator.
Did that oath include backstabbing the President and the country? You begged him to endorse you, he did, and you twisted the knife. What a sorry, clueless a-hole you are Mitt. Didn't your mother ever teach you the Golden Rule: "Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you." I hope somebody stabs you in the back, and twists it hard.
No shit Sherlock!
Isnt this the jerk off who drives around town with his dog on the roof of the car? Were supposed to listen to this fool?
Yes let the voters in Utah decide.
He’s voting his GUILTY conscious and his pocket book, not his conscience.
I can imagine a stay at Gitmo for Romney.
well i can tell you one thing that’s NOT unimaginable: Mitt Romney won’t be elected to a second term to the U.S. Senate ...
The consequences are not only imaginable, but very predictable and should be expected.
The only ‘unimaginable’ part would be if they don’t occur.
Well MYTH, if you don’t want to face the consequences I would recommend that you sit down on the Capitol Mall, pour 2 gallons of gasoline over your body and strike a match.
That way all your problems are solved and just think of the MORAL STATEMENT you would be making.
Isn’t he so brave? I mean really, he’ll tell you so himself.
His base will swoon when he plays the Poor Oppressed Mormon victim card at gatherings.
Show us that your are not an attention whore playing to the lamestream media and stabbing your fellow Republican Senators in the back because of your petty jealousy and vindictiveness. I mean, be "honorable."
