What? Bolton snookered the Democrats? 🤣 ~~~ No, I think Bolton thought he could snooker everyone into buying more books. The problem for him was that the impeachment happened too fast and the book was nearly two months from release. He wanted to the media attention by implying he could hurt Trump, but he was never going to go on record with such.

Of course not.
You can not go to jail for lying in a book, but lying in a sworn affidavit could put you in jail.
Bolton ruined his reputation for nothing.

So what "refused"?
Did Bolton have some LEGAL OBLIGATION to submit an affidavit?

[What? Bolton snookered the Democrats?]
It does not surprise me that Bolton told the Democrats to GFY. I expect the Vindman twins leaked some slanted BS to the NY Times because they could claim they had access to Bolton’s manuscript.

WOW....interesting analysis I hadn’t thought of...
Yes, he probably thought it would go on a lot longer than it did.
To: knighthawk
Submitting an affidavit wouldnt garner the same publicity as appearing in person. Its attention and $$$ Bolton is after.

A cynic might say Bolton really didn’t want to testify (or have anything to offer) in the first place, but knowing he’d be over-ruled by Executive Privilege, allowed the rumor to persist to build up interest in his book.

Couldn’t schiff get an affidavit from the anonymous source???
Hilarious.
To: G Larry
They were told he was waiting on the courts to decide a case. They withdrew the court case so got nothing.

So, Bolton was only willing to go as far as allowing the insinuation that President Trump had done something unethical. It appears he knew better than to carry the accusation any further.

Schitt got snookered. And you can bet that Bolton will take them to court if he is given a subpoena.
Schitt knew John would never sign an affidavit so this was just for show.
Time to call the whistle blower.

“sworn” affidavit

Why in the heck would anyone, including John Bolton, get involved in the DemonRats impeachment morass unless they were absolutely forced to do so? Under oath no less & you know that oral or written testimony will be twisted like a pretzel. I’ve seen it said that Bolton “hates” Democrats ... hopefully, it’s more than he dislikes Trump. Whether he meant to or not, Bolton has pulled the rug out from under the Dems with his “I’ll testify”, but then it doesn’t work out ... darn! The Dems are still full cry under the Bolton tree ... I think they’re wasting their energy. They took a political shot at the King & missed .... dangerous place to be because now there will be return fire.

He actually can’t offer any info re. discussions with the President. It’s not Bolton’s privilege, it’s the President’s and unless that privilege is waived it’s not Bolton’s choice even though we know the vindictive snake wants to talk.

Ive seen it said that Bolton hates Democrats ... hopefully, its more than he dislikes Trump. In my experience, there are difficult people who are angry at many of the people they've dealt with, and they tend to be angriest at the last people they've dealt with. In this case, that would be Trump.
