With the weeks-long impeachment trial ending Wednesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is wasting no time turning the chamber's focus back to his self-professed top priority: confirming judicial nominations.
McConnell teed up five judicial nominations for votes on the Senate floor as the chamber wrapped up its work for the week.
The Senate is expected to take its first procedural vote on the slate Monday evening, when Republicans will need a simple majority to end the debate on Andrew Brasher's nomination to be a judge on the Eleventh Circuit.
Once Brasher is confirmed, the Senate will turn to the nominations of Joshua Kindred, Matthew Schelp, Joshua Kness and Philip Halpern, all of whom have been picked to be U.S. district judges.
The Senate could easily fit all five nominations into its schedule for next week.
Under a rules change enacted last year, district court nominees only need an additional two hours of debate once they overcome an initial procedural hurdle.
The Senate has confirmed 187 judicial nominees for President Trump since he took office, including two Supreme Court picks.
If all five are confirmed, that would bring the total number of Trump judicial nominees confirmed since 2017 to 192.

I can’t spare this man. He fights.
Rock on Mitch. Rock on.
All right, now tee up some impeachments of leftwad judges.
That’s awesome. How many judges did the GOP Senate confirm last month?
Time for Trump to now to start ignoring all these dumb rulings from these lower activist judges, particularly on immigration.
You would almost think McConnell is pissed.
Give the turtle his due
Are they Trump’s judges, or mcconnell’s?
Because that’s what he does...
Watch the press conference Mitch did, it’s pretty entertaining. Someone started to ask “I know you’ve twice said you wouldn’t answer...and Mitch interrupted him to say “Do you want to be #3?”....
He’s got a bit of ‘tude, Cocaine Mitch does!
Doing this THE DAY AFTER ACQUITTAL is very much “in your face”. Well done, Cocaine Mitch.
“Thanks for playing Nancy”
I cant spare this man. He fights.
He has done a great job re judges and other tasks backing our President.
WHAT about Nancy Pelosi’s FEELINGS!!
Come on guys!!!
Two. Twenty three in December. What’s your point?
McConnell may not be a big fan of Trump, but his disgust at the misuse of the impeachment process far exceeded any reservations he has toward Trump.
Fear the Turtle.
The Senate Majority Leader can not nominate judges.
Mitch on Hannity now, ripping Pelosi for ripping up the speech: “What kind of example does that set for the American people?”
Does Mitch really think the American people look to Congress as an example of anything?
Mitch quietly and calmly rocked the post-vote presser. One reporter said a certain question was asked and shut down by Mitch twice. Mitch asked him if he would like to be the third. Whup.
Let’s all move on.
