TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — As many experts question the veracity of China's statistics for the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak, Tencent over the weekend seems to have inadvertently released what is potentially the actual number of infections and deaths, which were astronomically higher than official figures.
On late Saturday evening (Feb. 1), Tencent, on its webpage titled "Epidemic Situation Tracker", showed confirmed cases of novel coronavirus (2019nCoV) in China as standing at 154,023, 10 times the official figure at the time. It listed the number of suspected cases as 79,808, four times the official figure.
The number of cured cases was only 269, well below the official number that day of 300. Most ominously, the death toll listed was 24,589, vastly higher than the 300 officially listed that day.
Moments later, Tencent updated the numbers to reflect the government's "official" numbers that day. Netizens noticed that Tencent has on at least three occasions posted extremely high numbers, only to quickly lower them to government-approved statistics.
Netizens also noticed that each time the screen with the large numbers appears, it shows a comparison with the previous day's data which demonstrates a "reasonable" incremental increase, much like comparisons of official numbers. This has led some netizens to speculate that Tencent has two sets of data, the real data and "processed" data.
Some are speculating that a coding problem could be causing the real "internal" data to accidentally appear. Others believe that someone behind the scenes is trying to leak the real numbers.
However, the "internal" data held by Beijing may not reflect the true extent of the epidemic. According to multiple sources in Wuhan, many coronavirus patients are unable to receive treatment and die outside of hospitals.
A severe shortage of test kits also leads to a lower number of diagnosed cases of infection and death. In addition, there have been many reports of doctors being ordered to list other forms of death instead of coronavirus to keep the death toll artificially low.

Yep, and that 24/7 operation of the crematorians that was reported a week ago...when reported deaths were maybe 30 per day? I did a simple calculation and estimated that 300 people die every day out of ‘normal’ causes for a population of 11 million. So a 10% should not require a tripling of crematorium operations...IT MADE NO SENSE, until now.

It is vital to maintain cooperation with China. Trump is in a difficult position. He must maintain good relations with the Communist government while keeping America safe. It’s a balancing act. It is unlikely that Trump is unaware of the real situation because, among other sources, satellite data will show bodies on the street. (If the several reports I have read on this are true, and, I believe they are reasonable given the Chinese government’s actions.) For Trump to announce the truth would be to call the Chinese liars and cause them to lose face. All cooperation would likely stop.
Therefore, Trump has taken all reasonable steps to limit travel, test returnees and set up treatment facilities.
Also, the mechanism that killed so many in the 1918 pandemic and with this one, is pneumonia, which is, for the most part, treatable, and a “cytokine storm.” A cytokine storm is when our own immune system causes so much swelling that the targeted tissue, usually, the lungs, becomes unusable. Today that would be treated with a prednisone based drug, which is readily available and cheap.
It appears both China and the USA have overacted to the corona virus.
Both countries have lost tens of thousands of people yearly to the flu. Nothing new there.
The overaction of both countries to this flu strain indicates to me, something is different and we will have to wait to find out what that is - if we are ever told. Time will tell. -Tom
Back when I was really worried about H1N1, a wise person told me that the best thing was to watch what TPTB does, not says. At that time, while it was pretty bad, TPTB did not behave as if it were catastrophic, schools And borders weren’t closed, etc.
What they are doing in Wuhan, quarantining practically the whole country, converting gyms and conference centers into hospitals to add 3600 beds, building a hospital that is made for isolation and quarantine for serious cases, spraying disinfectant on the streets day and night, either barring people in their homes or taking them from their homes by force, arresting people for sharing information, people dropping on the street, videos of bodies piled up in ambulances and ER and crematoriums. These videos do not stay up long and less and less are coming out. They are worth watching if you want a glimpse of what is like. It is much MUCH worse than we are told.
But, all of this says it me is prepare. I am a believer as is my family and if this is my time to meet my maker then so be it. I’m not panicked, but I do think it is prudent to be prepared for whatever is coming. It sure doesn’t hurt.
By the way, there is some good news for westerners. I read yesterday that we carry an inhibitor with a very long name that starts with “cloro”. It give us “virtual immunity” to this type of virus according to the article. Chinese have a slightly different lung structure that picks up the bad stuff 5 times easier than Americans do.
So, try to avoid silly panicking. This is an Asian problem for the most part. That’s why as of yesterday there were only 165 cases in the entire world outside of China.

Actually the cases outside china seem to be about 2.5 weeks behind cases in china, numerically.

Wow just thinking about it if those numbers are real, scares the hell out of me.
Would this be like a huge Comet heading for earth for a direct impact?
Would letting the world know the truth create panic worldwide?
All my kids are now prepped for 2 months. I’m glad.
