Clutching at straws—want to delay as long as possible because theRE might be a chance of one in a gazillion some “smoking gun” is discovered between now now and Wednesday. That’s all there is to it. “Moderate” (radical never-Trumper”s) republicans joining the dems hoping for a last minute revelation to upend the vote.

IMHO

I like to keep in mind how the Dems must feel when no matter what they do,
Trump always comes out ahead. He will in this case.

You’d think they’d learn eventually but again, they are democrats

I suppose the "Congress Girls" will wear black at the SOU to signal the death of the Constitution

rather than their usual white signaling solidarity with the women's movement.

“””Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, a moderate who supported calling witnesses, reportedly wanted time for deliberations before the final vote.”””””””””””””””””””

She is too old and senile to remember the democrats already called 18 witnesses and would not let President Trump call any.

“”””””””””Republican Sen. Mike Braun of Indiana, speaking of a meeting among GOP senators, said there was “some feverish discussion.””””””””””””””””””

This jagoff is the new romney. He forgot who helped him get elected.

The big difference is it would make Schumer Senate Leader.

The GOP is a useless bunch....If Trump wins he needs to change the name...

McTurtle, who has other wise done a good job, should have sat his Senators down in straight back chairs and told them that the vote to acquit was going to be held FRiday night!

Speaking of the constitution, I must say all this democrat reverence about the founding fathers and original intent was shocking. Have the dems finally found and accept original intent as something to revere and are now strict constitutionalists, rejecting the idea of judges legislating and the document means what is says and not a “living document.”

I chuckle when I look back to the beginning when the GOP made President Trump sign off on starting a new party.

Effectively, that's pretty much what he has done.

He still has to get rid of a lot of Obama holdovers.

Just a note, on July 15 2019, ten days before the T/Z phone call, President Zelensky decided to replace all 12 Ukrainian ambassadors.

“threatening the unity needed to acquit Trump.”

We’re not talking 51 here. Now we’er talking 67. Republican don’t need “unity” anymore.

Acquittal is any vote less than 67. I find this story to be dubious and have heard other reasons.

“....bring on the witnesses....”

I feel the same thing as those that would like to see a trial. The liberals created this by “cheating” the GOP and the people they supposedly support even though it is very obvious there is nothing within the article of impeachment they found to be self evident. It was not done to be honest and in the best interest of the people, but to try to do the same thing they claim Trump did by tampering with an election through subliminal advertising by trying to make Trump out to be the villain without proof.

They use the same scenario every time for all nominations coming from the GOP and have caused some of those to say, “to hell with it, let me alone. It isn’t worth the problem.”

But the idiots have attacked a sitting president with articles they can’t prove, so they try to continue the discovery phase by trying to call more witnesses and were shut down. In the old days, this would have been called “Put up or shut up.”

I would love to see it go to trial with what they have. And with the threat of perjury to witnesses that exists in any trial, embarrass the he(( out of the libs clear past 2024 by making them look the crooked idiots they are at every opportunity.

You want to destroy the deep state? Here’s the chance.

I think McConnell was wise to carry the final vote on impeachment to next Wednesday for a number of good reasons.

What are those reasons, Wednesday McConnell gets 100% of the GOP Senators votes..plus 5-7 Democrap votes. Saturday/Sunday, the entire nation is consumed with following and enjoying a great “Super Bowl” game with Trump & Melania present, and no ones cares about anything the Democraps have to say or do, John Bolton is dead as a witness period. Trump knocks ‘em dead with his Tuesday SOTU address...while Pelosi fidgets and whines like a lost baby as Trump speaks and the whole nation sees what a low life bitch/witch Pelosi and her evil caucus of scum and vermin really are!!! Stay Tuned Tuesday evening...milllons of Americans will tuned in to RV and other live feeds!!!

This is all about “the State of the Union” Show.

I’m not sure whether this delay actually helps or hurts Trump?

It should restrain Trump for the speech, which could be good, depending on what Trump might say about impeachment.

One could argue the position that Trump should not even mention impeachment.

Then again, can you ignore the elephant in the room while giving an address on the “state” of the nation?

Might the Demonrats walk out en masse? He’s impeached, he’s not legitimate. (A YUGE mistake if you ask me)

Might Trump be conciliatory? “Can we all get along?” “bind up the nation’s wounds”.

Translation:

“A lot of us Republicans hate Trump. We would would vote to convict him, but if we did we would lose our Senate seat. We love our Senate seat more than we hate Trump. So, to get our “pound of flesh”, we will make President Trump wait another 4 days, completely unnecessarily, so that the Democrats can continue to throw lies, insults, mud, everything they can to make him look bad. And we get to make him stand and give the SOTU as the only president ever to do so in the middle of an impeachment trial.”

Paul Ryan and the 30+ “Retirees” intentionally let the House go during the 2018 Election. These Senators would like to do the same thing. But the power is just too much to sacrifice.

”Collins is a super- sized disappointment again”

She did what she had to do. Her probable replacement will be a communist. I’m sure Mitch released her vote after he had Murkowski locked down.

She saved Kavanaugh. Give her a break.
