Well if Roberts couldn’t reveal it to the Senate, then nobody should be able to reveal it to Roberts.

Something does not add up.

You know, I just don't get this. Our Chief Justice let Democrats ride out with their rope, watched them hurling over a limb, watched them tie up a noose, watched them rumble about a hangin’ and then watched them forget to actually get a conviction.

All in all, just to have to sit through all that bovine excrement and not blow up is pretty incredible.

As for the question, yep, appears he knew who the whistleblower was, the GOP could have brought forward a motion to require the reading. The answer wouldn't have changed any minds nor been under oath. A justifiable decision to not bring any new evidence to the trial.

And honestly, had the question been read and an obviously false response been given, the witness calling vote would likely have gone different, especially to get the under oath deposition of the whistleblower.

We'd have at least another week of this nonsense.

But hey, let us by all means continue the farce that Roberts is incompetent or in the pockets of liberals.

I believe he is being blackmailed. He travels with his long time college buddy without his wife. Methinks Roberts putts from the rough, so to speak.

Will his name be made public after the acquittal?

#15. Roberts is NOT AS SMART as people thought he was. He’s a bit of a squish, a fop, a phony, all rolled into one.

Let’s hope that Justice Ginsberg either gets too sick to continue and retires, or just plain drops dead in the street (ok, for dignity’s sake, in the Court).

Talk on TV yesterday was that the President’s counselor Philbin would make a great, young Supreme Court justice, which could move Thomas up to Chief Judge (for a while), and then have Justice Alito move into the Chief’s position.

If all this occurs within the next three years (And Trump has a good majority in Congress), with Ginsburg gone, you’d have Thomas in charge until he retired, allowing Alito to succeed him, with a new justice (say Philbin in place) and a NEED FOR ANOTHER JUSTICE TO TAKE Thomas’ place if he retired and there is an opening for Alito’s position.

God, help the good guys, please. Our country needs some extra help. Trump, Tom Fitton, Sidney Powell, Dershowitz, Sekulow, Philbin, etc. can’t do it all by themselves (not forgetting Sara Carter, John Solomon, Gregg Jarrett, etc).

Wish Trump would Tweet that he wants to hear the whistle blowers testimony.

Exactly. How did Roberts know the name of the "whistleblower" so as not to read the name?
Rand Paul is clever.

How would Justice Roberts know the identity of the alleged whistleblower?

The Rand Paul question does not say anything about the term “whistleblower.”

Nobody in the world knows the whistleblower’s name, yet anytime someone wants to bring up the name, everybody in the world knows it. Something is amiss.

Somebody illegally outed the whistleblower to Roberts. A crime was committed! And "Chief Justice" Roberts sits on that crime and says nothing but, I refuse to read the question....

It may have been a plan to circumvent the disingenuous dems. That way they dont say his name outright...but it is said...great idea.

Read the statute. It prohibits the IG, and only the IG, from disclosing the idenity of a whistleblower. Paul is legally permitted to identify a whistleblower. In the usual case, the IG is the only guy who knows who a whistleblower is. To encourage whistleblowers, the prohibition exists, but only the IG.
Scalia’s account of Roberts during the Obamacare decision makes it clear Roberts is being blackmailed. After oral arguments in any case, the justices huddle and vote each case. Roberts then assigns a justice to write the majority decision. Roberts was a firm “no” thru out the procedings, then immediately before the decision is announced, withiut notice to others Roberts opinion appeared with the tax fiction.
Im livid with Bush 43. When my hero Rhenquest died, Scalia should have been nominated as Chuef Justice, and Ronerts and Alito associate justices. But that would have required three senate confirmation proceedings, in stead of two. Scalia wasn’t consulted. That was his court. Bush’s second term was a disaster.
