Donald Trump's most famous and flamboyant lawyer vanished from his trial Thursday - turning up in Miami to fight back against a tidal wave of criticism for his extraordinary defense that anything a president does to get re-elected is unimpeachable.
The Harvard professor surfaced in Florida as other academics and attorneys reacted with astonishment to his position, which he then said he had never actually said.
On CNN he told Wolf Blitzer that he had a commitment in the state Thursday and it was difficult to change his flight because the Super Bowl is on this weekend in Miami.
He also complained about how CNN had reported what he said, prompting Blitzer to say: 'We were playing what you said.'
But his main thrust was a rearguard action against a legal theory which Trump's own defense spent time walking away from Thursday.

The older I get the more and more convinced I am that the world is mostly made up of people who have never encountered the notion of taking facts and applying them to rules to arrive at a conclusion. Its not just that they dont do this. They do not know that it is a thing that can be done.
...”
You’ve noticed that too!
Try booking a flight from Miami to DC today
Now tell me...why is he using that excuse.
Come on now...
But go ahead and believe he can’t get a flight.
Oh and btw, Philbin is the one that used the word RADICAL. Schiff is the one that pounced on it.
they were CLEARLY distancing themselves from the RADICAL portion of Dershowitz.
How hard is that to understand?
It isn’t.
I KNEW it as soon as I heard Philbin say it that something was amiss. But had no idea what.
Dershowitz was being linked to Epstein every 30 seconds on CNN/MSNBC. I guess that broke him.
Consider the sources, gang...
Gee, you would think he would have access to a private jet to get to the big game
I thought Patrick Philbin did a fabulous job.
Every time Philbin went to the podium he:
1. Recognized the Chief Justice.
2. Recognized the Senators
3. Thanked the Senator for the question.
Compare Philbin’s decorum to that of Adam Schiff. Most of the time Schiff did not:
1. Recognize the Chief Justice.
2. Recognize the Senators
3. Thank the Senator for the question.
What about the other direction???
why should we assume there was anything other than a prior commitment that required his presence elsewhere?
....
What can be more important that the impeachment trial. ...death of a loved one?
DC to Miami on Saturday
No problem
As an example
There could be some contractual committment for a speech or some such thing
But then he turns around and says flights are a problem
that is not true
“I just tried to book a flight for today to see.
Miami to DC.
No problem.
Were you trying to book FIRST CLASS?
A flight FROM Miami I could see being a problem, but a flight into Miami on Super Bowl weekend might be...
And let us not forget those 11 and more trips he made with Jeffery Epstein to Lolita Island.
And the fact that he openly admits to voting for Hillary Clinton....there ya go!
A pedo and Hillary voter!
Yeah, let’s put him on our defense team!
Prof. Dershowitz is not the right guy for political theater, which is what the impeachment process is.
btw, maybe he only wants to fly first class.
I didn’t check those seats.
But flights are not a problem
I saw one for $2700 dollars in one of my searches. didnt check to see if it was first class
Can also fly into Ft Lauderdale as an option
His idea wasn’t radical. It was completely mischaracterized purposely. He split the narrow “quid pro quo” idea into an even more narrow three types of motives for a quid pro quo and expanded on the “for political benefits” idea. He then argued that you would have to make the case that he ONLY acted for political purposes. He said, since he thinks his re-election is in the national interest he can’t be seen as doing something for PURELY political benefits without benefiting the country. He concludes by saying that’s why impeachment based on dual motives is a bad idea and doesn’t actually make any sense. Nothing radical about it
alright..so I tried again..FIRST CLASS
You can leave Miami today and return to miami Tomorrow
No problem
Agreed. ....Trump asked him politely to take a rest. ...hey. ..maybe Trump sent him to Mara Lago? It’s in Miami.
