Fair point but is a vote for acquittal a sure thing? Will demonicRATS just drop the whole thing even if Trump is acquitted?

I don't think the House will start fresh with new articles of impeachment during the Democrat primary season. If they take it up again, it makes impeachment the front and center issue in the election for the House.

They may wait until after the election, either assuming they keep the House or during the brief lame-duck session if they lose.

In any case, the time for witnesses is in the Senate committee hearings, not in a prolonged impeachment trial.

They'll run the entire 2020 campaign on trying to convince people they need to be voted into the majority in both the House and the Senate, assuming Trump wins, in order to find out the "real truth" about Trump's crimes.

I'm certain I am not the only person to have thought of this.
