Romney only has room to range because McConell allows it. Reid never allowed a Democrat to attack Obama in this way.
I was expecting no witnesses for a while but now am not sure. Perhaps the “compromise” will be Bolton and no other witnesses? That would be another middle finger from the GOP Senate directed at POTUS. I believe POTUS is free to fight that with executive privilege but that will likely drag out this circus for weeks more.
Ms. Raskin is doing a good job. I like her style and presentation.
when she talked about the distraction I thought she was talking about Bolton, but she was talking about rudy, with the news as it is, the presidents lawyers seem caught flatfooted and not ready to respond to the public perception issues imo
Loved her opening of how everyone liked/respected Rudy, until he supported Trump.
The usual rules, like “put your witness on a list - if you don’t, you can’t call at trial,” those have some narrow exceptions (in the interest of justice), but are by and large enforced.
In contrast, impeachment is an affair between the House and the senate. To run properly, there needss to be good faith. Or at least enough of it to overcome the inevitable cranks.
Our government does not operate in good faith, on anything. Neither does our press.
This case will eventually resolve on party lines, just like it started.
I would say that the press is on trial every day and they are being found guilty. If not for the way cable packaging works they would be long gone. Remember Air America? Not surprised if you don’t.
Dems are playing to their base. Trump’s team is playing to Senators. They are tip toeing through the tulips here. This not Trumpian in the least and all smacks of “advice” from McConnell, unfortunately.
They are not exposing the ‘Demorats’ to the Senate, since everyone in the Senate already knows everything. All that is happening now is weighing public opinion. This is not a debate over whose ‘truths’ are accurate. The Dems have no truths. What the public needs is an expose of the coup. It would give daylight to what is actually going on.
Listening to the defense team I hope Bolton thinks twice. He will be not bloody but a knife will go in and twisted without him even being aware what happen.

OK, this is the most inane and insane statement I have yet to see. That a Republican Senator RINO or not would vote to allow witnesses but ONLY Democrat witnesses is beyond mind boggling.

Just so. They can do anything they want. They are judges, jurors, and even advocates. They make all the rules and all the decisions.
The seeds are sown just to call Bolton. If the coup is not brought up... what is the rationale for calling the real witnesses that will blow this thing wide open.
How will you feel if they call Bolton?
Why would you think witnesses will talk? Any could claim the fifth....It would just give Dems the stage throughout the election.
