Senate Impeachment Trial LIVE - day 6
The problem is that our leadership has coddled its members for so long that they're used to it.
McConnell should threaten to cut off their reelection funding. That might cause us to lose Maine, but not Utah or Alaska.
It amazes me that at times like this, McConnell would still prefer to have his minions in the Senate than threaten to primary a Senator who goes against him. Why can't McConnell threaten to give Senate primary funding to another Republican in Maine to run against Collins, or against Murkowski in Alaska? He only has to do it once for them to get the message.
But if he never does it at all, then his caucus knows he a paper tiger.
I understand that McConnell's afraid of the upcoming election because Republicans are defending so many seats (just like the Democrats did last time around). McConnell should count on Trump coattails, but instead, he prefers to keep his pets and let them run amok when we need them to unify.

Dragging out won’t help the senators in Iowa. Gives Bidden and Mayor Pete free range.

or if you wish to watch from a true conservative viewpoint... OAN!!! I'm personally sick of watching Chris Wallace defend the Dems! I've subscribed to OAN and not turning back!
And that he (Bolton) has hired M. Avenatti, Esq.
Good point. House Democrats should have thought of that before they sat on their turd impeachment for a month.
I'd settle for Obama.

Hes not in control. He doesnt have unity within his caucus. He hasnt made even a token play to get Manchin on his side. This whole thing is a setup by both parties to oust Trump. If this happens the response cannot be found at the ballot box.
Not a single, “This stinks to high heavens... and besides, the aide was all delivered before the deadline without conditions... end of story.” I cannot even watch this crap until Alan starts. Why do the Pubs pretend that this isn’t all contrived. Why can’t they say the coup has a twin in the White House that is conspiring against Trump. They’re all shit.
yes, but there are rumors and also rumours
Boy oh boy! Chris Wallace is all in on this now, no pretenses anymore. He just practically screamed at Katie Pavlich to GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.
So Schitt says Bolton was “unwilling” to come before the House. Why wasn’t Bolton charged with obstruction of justice? Schitt just admitted that his subpoena’s were in fact nothing more than unenforcable toilet paper.
Wallace quibbling over who did the investigating before giving it to the House before the House gave it to the Senate, like that makes a difference?
Pavlich's point was that the Senate never before heard witnesses whose testimony was not first "vetted" by the House (regardless of who actually heard from the witnesses first).

So far, looks like Chief Justice Roberts is late.
I watched Republican interviews live and saw them publically question who leaked the Bolton book review!!!!!
Fox is obsessed with Bolton and having him testify. Sick of their bull.
Not that any of this has importance ... did you change the subject from amendments? The amendment Collins crossed over for was more time to respond to initial motions. The 2 days -> 3 days change was done before the resolution was formally proposed, as far as the record shows, not an amendment. The changes were penned in before the resolution appeared on the record in the first place.
S.Amdt.1293 to S.Res.483 <- time mods extend time to respond
The Resolution text, S.Res.483 as actually proposed on the floor of the Senate has the 3 days for each side's argument.
This news article, "McConnell drops two-day limit on opening arguments", discusses the changes made before the resolution was formally offered in the Senate.
Wallace continued to interrupt Katie, with thats not true, thats just not true. She kept taking and f ally said, let me finish. Wallace then took over and was incensed.

OAN!!!!!!! turn FOX off.....
Bolton is free as a bird on the wing to call his own press conference and discuss, or even “... Read that whole chapter of his book...”. “Bolton does not Need to be called as a Witness.” (Per, FOX panel.)
Meanwhile, Lee Zeleger was put out there quite unprepared to tighten anything up regarding this wrench in the sausage grinder, going against the giddiness and pounce of Chris Wallace, Martha MCCALLUM, and to a lesser measure Bret Baier.
The Senate today seems poised to continue their address of the facts and MULVANEY DENIES that Bolton reported hearing nothing of what this leak claims Bolton has written.
Andrew McCarthy (FOX) suggests that the President’s Defense team should have some narrative prepared that does address this Bolton revelation, and not try to go forward with entirely ignoring it.
