WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump’s campaign is considering only participating in general election debates if an outside firm serves as the host, and his advisers recently sat down with the nonprofit Commission on Presidential Debates to complain about the debates it hosted in 2016.
The Dec. 19 meeting between Frank Fahrenkopf, a prominent Republican and co-chairman of the commission; Brad Parscale, campaign manager for Trump’s reelection effort; and another political adviser, Michael Glassner, came soon after Trump posted on Twitter that the 2016 debates had been “biased.

He might be, but I doubt the President would agree to debate. He would have nothing to gain by doing so.
The debates will benefit Trump, biased or not. It would be foolish to sit out. He beat Clinton in no small part based upon his performance in the post-Access Hollywood debate.

I think obvious Trump supporters are not the best idea - just like obvious lefties are a bad idea.
There must be SOME honest, unbiased people. Sharyl Attkisson? Lara Logan? Maybe there’s no middle ground when it comes to the president....I don’t know.

Certainly there is no certainty Trump will receive even-handed treatment if the traditional alphabet channels (including Fox News) are in charge of the debate.
If any network news or cable news source (including Fox) is to run one of the debates, it should be balanced by one run by OANN, NewsMax, or some other non-leftist outlet.

POTUS should insist no network specific debates. Let them be open feed to all with 3 or 4 cameras only. Each candidate gets to pick one moderator. They alternate questions. This should result in fairness of views represented. No town hall debates with questioners pre-screened or pre-written by the MSM or DNC.
