Ugandan climate activist Vanessa Nakate has called out racism in media after she was cropped out of a photo featuring prominent climate activists including Greta Thunberg, Loukina Tille, Luisa Neubauer and Isabelle Axelsson.
----
Why did you remove me from the photo? I was part of the group, she tweeted in response. Other agencies, including Reuters, misidentified Nakate as Zambian activist Natasha Mwansa. Reuters currently available version of the photograph identifies the other four activists in the picture but not Nakate.
---
In the viral video, Nakate elaborated on what she considers the erasure of black and brown voices in conversations surrounding climate change, pointing out that people who look like her are most vulnerable to rising global temperatures.
We dont deserve this. Africa is the least emitter of carbons, but we are the most affected by the climate crisis, she said. You erasing our voices wont change anything. You erasing our stories wont change anything.

Nice - so I’ll just refer to Casey as a Saudi Muslim...
Ask Vanessa if she attends these events to draw attention to the issue(s) or if she does it to get her picture in the paper.
Does she see Greta as a rival or a peer with common goal?
What difference does it make if she gets in the paper so long as the conference/rally gets media coverage?
The tall girl will commit murder one day.
Also, I think the chick next to the Black chick was on House of Cards...
Comedy of errors, or is it? Reuters is racist !
they are all suicides
A climate crisis becomes a race issue. The drama never ends with the Leftist crisis mongers.
Indeed racism is the last thing the environmental movement wants. It has been described as way way white in composition since it’s not something blacks flock to. They would kill to have more blacks involved.
If SWAMPSNIPER were still here he’d confirm that it is in fact very tricky to get the correct exposure on blacks and whites. Blacks, naturally, need more exposure.
This is in part because so many feel as if they have been traditionally under-exposed. There are exceptions. Martin Luther King’s life, for instance, must not be fully exposed. So, these photographic things are indeed complex.
Interesting. The Black girl is the only one smiling and looking somewhat normal. The nuttiest is Gretta.
Vanessa Nakate appears to be wearing the same ID tag and is grouped with the others. Her improper ID’ing makes the media racist in that “they all look alike”. In my opinion if some conservative outfit cropped this girl out racism charges would be abundant.
Knowing how they’d quickly rush to judgment on any of us, I’ll assume its racism.
She better hide all the scarves in her apartment. And disconnect all of her door knobs.
I guess I’m a little put out by the fact that this is even a thing. Even endless sportsball is more edifying.
But when they think they're in private, they calmly discuss eliminating blacks (and browns) as the solution to the Climate Crisis.
European climate change activists are racist? Who knew. The Ugandans can put some ice on it.
White leftists know better.
Four per the fat-boy Moore.
Which girl are you saying is bald?
