"Schiff is saying that a President who goes against the wishes of the Deep State to deliver on campaign promises to the voters is really abusing the office for personal benefit."

Wow.

So why waste our time with candidates and listening to what they will promise us if it is illegal to do so?

So Schitt just said that if they keep their promises they will be impeached. scary.

Think about the implications.

President Trump said he'd build the wall. Congress blocks funding and even shuts down the government. Trump declares an emergency using powers given to him by Congress, and diverts military spending to fund the wall. Schiff would call this an abuse of power for personal benefit, the personal benefit being that it makes Trump more desirable for reelection with his base.

President Trump said he'd make better trade deals to bring back jobs. He puts tariffs on products American manufacturers are buying from overseas, and puts tariffs on Chinese imports until they reciprocate by opening up their markets to American products, and until they promise to stop stealing American intellectual property. China and the United States just signed a new trade deal, and Schiff says that the trade deal with China was an abuse of power to benefit Trump because Trump wants China to help him cheat in the 2020 election.

President Trump said he'd lower burdensome regulations that are stifling the growth of the American economy. Trump backs out of the Paris Climate Change Accords, cancels environmental regulations on the waterways, opens up ANWR and other areas for oil exploration, and Schiff will think this was an abuse of power for personal benefit because it will make union workers want to vote for him.

This whole impeachment is about Democrats trying to force Americans to only vote for their rejected candidates in 2020 by removing the popular Republican from the ballot, on the grounds that he's popular because he abused his office in ways that made people want to reelect him.
