The Black Death killed a third of the population in medieval Europe in a very short period of time.

We shouldn’t fool ourselves into thinking we could handle a pandemic that can kill millions of people quickly.

We can’t and the resultant social disruption is going to be of a catastrophic nature.

There are several things different today from the medieval Europe. First we don’t toss our excrements out the front window except in San Francisco. Another we don’t keep livestock in our houses except emotional support animals. Third we actually know about bacteria and viruses when in those days they were inclined to burn someone at the stake for making curses. And we have rat traps and pesticides. And nutrition. So scaring people with history is not going to work.
