Well it all depends on what the word “given” means, doesn’t it? The money was “released” in that we had seized a large amount of Iranian money, so in the sense it wasn’t ours to begin with, we didn’t “give” to them as much as let them have it back. At least that is how I understand it.

I thought I read that the $1.8 Billion flown into Tehran consisted of Euros and other Currencies and little or none of the Cash was U.S. Tender. The Shipment may have also included Gold Bullion.

The truth is that the money may NOT have been "Iranian money" because Iran was being sued by several countries for more than the amount that was frozen.

If Obama had waited for all the world court cases to be resolved before unfreezing the funds, it might not have been "Iranian money" when all was said and done.
