Iranian retaliation begins with missile attack on Iraqi airbase

Initial reports stated that 9 rockets hit the Ain al-Assad airbase on Tuesday. The base hosts American soldiers.
Heavy missile attacks were carried out by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps on the Ain al-Assad air base in Iraq that hosts both Iraqi and US soldiers on Tuesday night. Nine missiles hit the airbase, according to Al-Hadath.

Earlier there were reports of lots of air power heading to Iran. Has that been verified? Would it be typical to do that only to say “nevermind, they “only” killed Iraqis.”?

Assuming a good response for a zero American casualty attack on US bases would be taking out some of their docked corvettes and frigates via submarine.

Alrighty then. First off, any base that launched a missile should be leveled. For the number of bases that Iran hit, they should lose that number of military bases. They think they’re dealing with a Barak Obozo who is lighter and louder, they’re going to find out that they’re not. Iran is about to find out what extreme penalties are.
What a waste of rockets/missiles. I’m sure that this type of attack was anticipated, and the U.S. military took measures to avoid casualties.
Itchy trigger finger. If this is their revenge they want to negotiate. They fired on fortified locations and their were no U.S casualties. That is called a win. I think attacking would be I’ll advised if those reports are accurate.
If we were massively going to respond, the President would have addressed the nation tonight.
That’s off the table for now but we’re leaving our options open for later.

For our entire history there has been severe penalty for firing on US military forces.
It’s called deterrence.
You can do pretty much anything, but if your flagged forces fire on US flagged fores, you will not like the result.
