One of the most bizarre foreign policy notions is the criticism that a retaliation against terrorists is disproportionate.
The disproportionate complaint has been repeatedly wielded against Israel. And the United States. Even though it makes no sense. Isn't a proportional retaliation just an embodiment of the cycle of violence that they 'proportionate' crowd complains about?
Instead, President Trump has embraced disproportionate retaliation.
"These Media Posts will serve as notification to the United States Congress that should Iran strike any U.S. person or target, the United States will quickly & fully strike back, & perhaps in a disproportionate manner. Such legal notice is not required, but is given nevertheless!" Trump tweeted.
Disproportionate retaliation is not a bad doctrine.
You attack one of our embassies. We go after the guy leading the attack. But we also go all the way up the food chain and take out the guy behind it all. And we serve notice that we will respond unpredictably. We'll ignore some things and overreact to others. Don't test us because you don't know what will happen.
We will not reply proportionately. We won't calculate how limited our attack will be. We'll hurt you. Badly.
If you poke the rabbit and then the bear, you get a different response.
The proper meaning of “disproportionate” is “excessive”. The Left defines “disproportionate” as what normal people would call “effective”. They apply it to a country that they hate, when it’s winning.
Trump, the counterpuncher, has often said if you hit him he will hit you back five times as hard, which of course he does.
Now he has become our nations counterpuncher, applying the same strategy to dealing with our enemies.
So disproportionate retaliation is definitely a good name for it.
Exactly - ‘disproportionate’ would consist of reducing an entire city to rubble in order to eliminate one person. We no longer have much of a problem finding that person and we even are polite enough to gather up the pieces and send them back. Quite gracious, actually.
disproportionate...........Impeachment in return for winning an election.
A disproportionate response gets them to the point of, “Sh!t, we ain’t doin’ that again.”, moment.
I was thinking the same damn thing. Trump must have some jarhead next to him. Lmfao
Disproportionate retaliation is pre-Torah and pre-Hammurabi.
It is the only language the ragheads understand.
GO TRUMP!
Disproportionate? They bring a knife, we bring a gun. From the Kenyan traitor’s mouth to God’s ear.
Excellent analysis.
May I borrow that? (I’ll be happy to include the link.)

“Disproportionate” was another trigger word to protect bad guys from being taught to not take certain actions...another PC meme bites the dust under the Best President Ever...
