"The death of Soleimani is devastating to the regime. No man is irreplaceable, but he comes close given his two decades of operational experience and regional dominance," Mark Dubowitz, CEO of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, told the Washington Examiner.
In a Twitter post, Dubowitz said Soleimani's death would be bigger than that of Osama bin Laden and ISIS leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi. .

Following the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003, Soleimani and his unit supported Iraq's Shiite Muslim insurgency. Iran provided the particularly lethal explosively formed penetrators to insurgent groups, a weapon which was capable of penetrating U.S. armor. The Pentagon has attributed at least 500 deaths to Iranian influence during this time.

Unconfirmed: Among the dead is the son in law of Sulaimani and he was also the son in law of Imad Mughniyeh.
..............
Mughniyeh was the founder of Lebanon’s Islamic Jihad and number two in Hezbollah’s leadership before we killed him in 2008.

This strike may prove to be the highest value targe we’ve ever hit, next to bin Laden.
Awwww.
Found the link.
Being in a War Zone does does expose oneself.
Good riddance and rot in hell, where they all belong.
Thanks. Posted too quickly.
“This strike may prove to be the highest value target weve ever hit, next to bin Laden.”
When we got him, bin Laden was apparently of little value. Yes he induced grievous harm, but he was no longer a threat - his killing was a matter of justice, not of defense.
Sulaimani & Co killed today were active threats, high value because they were, are, and will cause serious harm to our people & interests.
There is a back story to this raid.
............
The Iranians, Lebanese Hezbollah leaders and the local militias were likely organizing a coup to take over Iraq.
..........
That would explain an airstike at the airport that we use extensively.
Hi. Id like to dedicate a song to Qassim. Yeah, can you play I FALL TO PIECES?
Great news. As a side note, the Huffington Post usually allows comments on articles but not on this one. I guess they are in mourning and did not want American patriots celebrating on their website.
But, really, how hard will it be in Iran to find another ruthless, murderous, anti-American Shia bombmaker to take his place? They seem to have a nearly limitless supply.
Don’t let your generals run around with embassy-attacking terrorists outside your own country. Duh!
Naim Qassem, the second in command of Lebanon’s Hezbollah is also killed.
An honest mistake. We were going after that other powerful Iranian, John French Kerry (who served in Vietnam, if you haven’t heard)
Now you know why the 82nd was deployed. There’s gonna be some action and the military wants force protection.
He was competent, and clever.
Good help is generally hard to find. I imagine that's true for terrorist leaders too.
Dubowitz: "They thought he was a Twitter tiger; hes proven otherwise."
Milley: Milley warned any future embassy attackers would "run into a buzz saw."
