Protesters angered by recent US air strikes targeting an Iranian-backed Iraqi militia have attacked the American embassy compound in Baghdad.
US troops fired tear gas to disperse a crowd that got into a reception area in the compound, which is in the capital's heavily fortified Green Zone.
A guard post on the street nearby was also set alight.
US President Donald Trump accused Iran of "orchestrating" the attack and said it would be "held fully responsible".
At least 25 fighters died when the US bombed bases associated with the Kataib Hezbollah militia in western Iraq and eastern Syria on Sunday.

AP and the NYT’s have labeled the protestors as “mourners”
Odd, I thought they might have used their preferred term "survivors".
I remember hearing about, in France, when a bunch of our guys landed on Omaha Beach, it caused some German invaders to react even more violently.
In inciting video perhaps?
“AP and the NYTs have labeled the protestors as mourners”
To be expected from such propagandists.
We could call them dust if they prefer?
“Protestors?”
No.
Paramilitary units.
US troops fired tear gas to disperse a crowd that got into a reception area in the compound, If they were inside the compound, the troops should have been firing bullets! It is way past time we stop putting our people at risk without being willing to use the force necessary to protect them!
Napalm cannons.
As Pakistani Lanny use to say, "Where's the poof?"
I admire the sheer bravery of the mullahs of Iran.
They know if they step 1/10th of an inch over an ill-defined and therefore CHANGEABLE line, hell’s a comin’.
And the thing is, they won’t know where that line is until they are over it. But they know it’s out there in the hazy distance somewhere.
Iran has been conditioned by the past to expect proportional responses to their criminal incitements. After all, it’s official US foreign policy everywhere.
But one day some POTUS will decide proportionality allows an adversary to control the intensity of breadth of conflict.
And that POTUS will seize back control.
No country in the world is responsible for more US military deaths than Iran. And they’ve never been party to US military engagement.
The American people hold more animus toward Iran than any other country, maybe more than all others combined. It’s part of our folklore and culture now.
And that amorphous line out there on the horizon looms darkly.
Weapons free.
They were “mourners”......sort of. A memorial procession...
.........
That was the excuse the 200+ militiamen used to get close to the entrance to the restricted Green Zone.
........
They then rushed the gate and got to our embassy.
Really give ‘em something to morn about.
One would think that after 1980 and more recently Benghazi (yes,I know it wasn’t an embassy) that we would protect such American diplomatic areas (considered American sovereign) better. We put billions into the Green Zone and these a-hole Iranian f*ggots come within distance to breaching?
What about us being angry about Irans initial attack on our guys?
Iraq has been taken over by Hezbollah. I dont think GWB was evil, he was just way too trusting, and went into Iraq on information from the CIA (which later turned out to be false). Bush trusted everybody, especially his enemies. And his biggest mistake was to let them enshrine Islam in their constitution.
But then, I think Bush was the original Islam is the religion of peace guy. Parroting a slogan probably taught to him by the Muslim Brennan.
We’ve got over 100 Marines on site now. They can handle them.
.............
At Tehran, 13 Marines had to protect 27 acres with shotguns and .38 revolvers.
............
This time, the attack only took over the outside reception area.
