Documenting the Virginia Crackdown
American Thinker.com ^ | December 30, 2019 | David Lanza

Recent elections in Virginia have placed the Virginia government within arm's length of widespread gun confiscation. Around eighty-four counties and cities throughout the Commonwealth have pledged to ignore and resist these measures. Some Virginia elected officials have called for the National Guard to carry out such confiscation, which would imply the arrest and disarmament of local officials who get in the way. Governor Northam has stopped short of adopting such an idea, but he will not rule it out. Additional stories indicate that the government will disable internet and telephone access to affected areas during the crackdown. The prison budget has been increased in anticipation of gun-related arrests.

While the idea of soldiers engaged in gun confiscation is not yet a reality, the proposal itself should alarm every sane person in this country. Elected officials want to send large numbers of uniformed soldiers in combat gear and armored vehicles through residential streets in search of American citizens and their lawful possessions. The hyperbolic political debates of recent years notwithstanding, government oppression has not yet reached the levels displayed by Stalin, Hitler, or Pol Pot. But the Virginia gun confiscation discussion begins to come close. The use of military tanks in residential streets for the purpose of overwhelming law-abiding citizens (and local police) would equal the oppression of Tiananmen Square or the 1968 Prague crackdown.

Democrat regimes have previously been willing to endure political backlash from the temporary use of military force against civilians. Waco and Elián González bear witness to this recent history. The proposed Virginia gun confiscation would be far more widespread, with more enduring consequences.

You willing to grant permission for non-residents to come hunt on your property?

When you just signed up for some free tuition and now they want you to confiscate guns. 😆

It’s clear to me that Northam and his cadre are deliberately trying to provoke a violent reaction from gun-owning patriots in Virginia.

Slightly off-topic (but not really) ...

Northam's predecessor Terry 'The Punk' McAuliffe no doubt did something very similar in Charlottesville by issuing a stand-down order to the state police, which allowed Antifa to run wild.

PDJT needs to pre-emptively nationalize the VANG to ensure that no unconstitutional anti-2nd Amendment order can ever be implemented.

The good people of Virginia should arm themselves to the teeth and converge on the fascist governor’s residence.

Go for the head of the snake.

Of course no legislation has actually passed yet. The left propaganda just keeps going. The courts would probably overturn any gun grab.

These are their neighbors, not federal troops from across the country. They will not subjugate their own.

...."The courts would probably overturn any gun grab.".....

Now that Trump has loaded the courts!

Every once in a while the people need to be reminded of WHY we have the 2nd Amendment. It's not for hunting.

“And in 2016 people on FR still thought the FBI was full of America-loving patriots too.”

I’m sure there were, but since Rudy Ridge and Waco, those paying attention knew better.

While true, the likelihood of it passing is quite high. The dems who won November's elections are not the "classic liberal" variety.. they are hardcore progs who want to complete the destruction of a once-great state.

How long have gun owners in the communist states been waiting for relief from the Supreme Court?

They simply refuse to hear the cases.

It’s now 87 counties, 10 cities and 17 towns for a total of 111 localities standing with the Constitution.

The Rat Governor really...REALLY....needs to rethink this boneheaded move. It will NOT end well for him.

Virginia's landmass is more than 42,000 sq. mi. That's a lot of land to cover for a lightly manned National Guard that will already be badly thinned by defections.

No recall possible, but he cannot run for re-election, one term and you’re out.

Correct....In a sane, normal world, one would think with all the ‘rabid’ support that some of the D would maybe not be so radical when it comes to THEIR job security.

I can picture some of the ones from the hinterlands - especially those that ran unopposed may balk at the complete overturning of present day ‘laws’.

These ‘newbies’ from NOVA are basically fanatics and I put a lot of them in the category of if PDJT signed an edict tomorrow that everyone must inhale and exhale on a regular basis, there are enough of the fanatics that would hold their breath (and hopefully drop out of the picture) just because HE told them to breath.

THEY are the dangerous ones and really think their cause is ‘just’.

Funny how the greater majority of either party are just ‘for’ the person with the same letter (DorR) unanimously EVERY time yet put five of these like people together and find it hard to see they all believe the weather is the same
