California lawmakers had another busy year passing gun-related legislation. Gov. Gavin Newsom, a staunch proponent of gun control, signed more than a dozen bills one day this fall.

If you have a gun-violence restraining order, you’ll be prohibited from buying a firearm for up to five years, under AB 12 by Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin, D-Thousand Oaks. It takes effect Sept. 1.An employer, coworker, employee or teacher can seek a gun-violence restraining order from a court, allowing police to remove firearms from someone making threats, under AB 61 by Assemblyman Phil Ting, D-San Francisco. It takes effect Sept. 1.

You can’t buy guns in California if you are prohibited from buying guns in another state, under AB 164 by Assemblywoman Sabrina Cervantes, D-Corona. The bill takes effect Jan. 1.

California law enforcement agencies before Jan. 1, 2021 must develop and adopt written policies and standards regarding the use of gun violence restraining orders under Irwin’s AB 339.Suicide warning labels must be on gun packages and in gun stores by June 1, under Irwin’s AB 645. The handgun safety certificate test also will cover the topic of suicide.

Certain gun “precursor” parts must be sold through a licensed vendor under AB 879 by Assemblyman Mike Gipson, D-Carson. Provisions of the bill begin to take effect Jan. 1, but others don’t until July 1, 2024 or 2025.

No more firearms and ammunition can be sold at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in San Diego after Jan. 1, 2021, under AB 893 by Assemblyman Todd Gloria, D-San Diego. The $100 cap on processing fees for concealed firearm licenses is going away with the passage of AB 1297 by Assemblyman Kevin McCarty, D-Sacramento. County sheriffs can now charge “an amount equal to the actual costs for processing the application,” according to the bill, which takes effect Jan. 1.

Hmmm. How much should someone charge for typing a name and DOB into a computer?
I say a dollar.
Everyone good with that?

I lived in the Thousand Oaks area for about 20 years. There were sure as hell no liberals politicians like this 16-20 years ago.

The white trash neighbor we had would have loved this. They got a TRO against me for complaining about their drunken redneck parties. Said I was harassing them. Got some POS "magisbator" to give it to him, and agree that I should be disarmed as well.

I bailed out of Calif and never looked back.

If they can be persuaded to come down from their well padded nests.

I have been a life member since the mid-80's, and sick of the whimpy lack of action and lavish perqs for the anointed.

Lately, the stuff I read sounds like those TV preachers.....Jesus needs your money..........

Smart guns is the answer. When you press the trigger, a transmission is sent to the local police department. An officer comes over to verify that an actual crime or self-defense situation is occurring, after which you get an email confirmation with a 16-digit code to activate your gun. Once activated an automatic voice alarm notifies anyone in the area that a firearm is about to be used. You now have a 20 second window to fire before another 16-digit code is needed to use the gun.

Well with the situation with the totalitarian, anti-American Democrat party going all-in-lawless as it has, the pressure will be on the NRA/ILA to get proactive. You can look at it from the extreme in that without gun ownership, there is no need for the NRA...IMHO, the full impact of the radical left and its anti-Constitutional has yet to be witnessed from the public in its fullest. I feel a full surprise awaits us in November of next year. We are all anxious — keep the faith!!

Serious question.
What do you think would be the outcome if a bunch of California gun owners put flyers in their local gun shops and shooting ranges (with permission, of course) with a printed friendly reminder to vote against anyone with a “D” in the next election?

I’ve been thinking about doing this here in Colorado.

I am bothered also by the NRA’s apparent lack of response. But to be fair, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) and his AG are fighting to collapse the NRA, which is chartered in NY state. Basically, NY is attacking its other means of fundraising, e.g. selling types of insurance.

We left in 1996 for Arizona and never looked back! The only thing I’ve ever missed is the ocean.

All those lawsuits cost a ton of money. Get ready to donate.
