Anguished SEALs Recall Chief as 'Evil' and 'Toxic'
New York Times via Yoohoo News ^ | 12/27/2019 | Not Attributed

Special Operator 1st Class Corey Scott, a medic in the platoon, told the investigators: “You could tell he was perfectly OK with killing anybody that was moving.” Such dire descriptions of Gallagher, who had eight combat deployments and sometimes went by the nickname Blade, are in marked contrast to Trump’s portrayal of him at a recent political rally in Florida as one of “our great fighters.”

Your post makes me remember a story that was told to me by an individual who claimed to be a former SEAL.

This conversation occurred aboard a a Military Sealift Command ship off the coast of Viet Nam in 1972 or 1973. This guy had recently been assigned to the ship as a crew member and I don’t recall his crew position. He was of an age and physical condition that he might possibly have been what he claimed

His story that he was in the lead of his small group, making their way along a footpath in heavy brush along side a river. He suddenly came upon a young kid, age not specified, with a rifle. The “SEAL” said that he hesitated to shoot for a second because the kid was so young. That hesitation almost cost him his life. He said the kid shot him first. This injury ended his military career.

In combat situations, it is my opinion that all civilians should be considered to be a threat and many, if not most, actually are

You mean "the Mean Girls"?

I sure hope you feel better now that you vented.

Have a Happy New Year.

Has nothing to do with venting but more to do with keeping the record straight from the knee jerk armchair warriors.

There is a clear line in war. All too often though its grey like the fog that surrounds it and you have to make a quick judgment call.

If someone commits a war crime, I agree, throw the book at that man and make sure he pays.

The problem is when JAGs and armchair bureaucrats second guess calls that might have been perfectly reasonable at the time.

And with grey area calls, I tend to give the people who were on the front line the benefit of the doubt.

It has to be established beyond a reasonable doubt it wasn’t and in fact a war crime was committed.

True, but murdering a captured prisoner is pretty obviously nothing to do with fog of war. It is plain murder. That’s what Gallagher’s shipmates said as well.

Yeah, The JAG pukes who spied on defense counsel and journalists have more “military experience” than I do. You want to give them medals, too? No doubt the Obamaroids at the NY Times have the best interest of the SF community at heart here in this political assassination of Gallagher.

First of all it isn’t the N.Y. Times that is making up the quotes about dirtbag Gallagher. ITS HIS SHIPMATES! FELLOW SEALS. So it does no good to kill the messenger. It is THEY who have a problem with him.

Second the Navy JAGS were punished by the judge for attempting to find a leak thru a stupid spy operation. That of course has nothing to do with Gallagher murdering a prisoner of war.

You obviously have no military experience so you are the least credible on this subject.

I don’t know what happened on deployment. I don’t really care at this point. What I care about is the Democrats using this as club to attack POTUS. You should be attacking them and not Gallagher.

“On Thursday, the prosecution’s star witness, medic Navy SEAL Special Operator 1st Class Corey Scott, shocked the courtroom by admitting that he was the one who killed a wounded Islamic State in Iraq and Syria fighter, not Gallagher...”

No SEAL would ever talk smack about another SEAL, no matter what he did.

Old Sgt York must spinning with glee that he lived in “America” instead of today’s third-world knock-off...

Wait a minute. Was this the Medic that pinch the breathing tube on the terrorist, suffocating him? Then the blame was heaped on Gallagher?

Sounds like someone has some guilt issues.

Good story. I have zero military experience. But I know that wars are usually won when one side has lost. Lost strategic advantage. Lost territory. Lost weapons. And lost manpower. So it follows that the less men your side loses and the more the other side does the better your chance of winning.

Wars are fought to be won. Messy fact. As is the fact not all of them are wearing uniforms.

Yeah. I don’t take religious, moral, or military advice from the NYT.

I operate from the position the NYT is always lying so on the occasional instance they aren't; I can be pleasantly surprised.

That what happens when you grant immunity to someone. They take the blame for their friend and nothing can happen to them.

Not really. The medic after being granted immunity falsely admitted it to protect Gallagher. And it worked. This is why prosecutors seldom grant immunity because then the immunized party falsely admits guilt.
