The “Star Wars" franchise is among Disney’s most lucrative properties.
A recent study by Morten Bay, a University of Southern California digital media researcher, revealed that over 50 percent of the venom directed on Twitter at Rian Johnson, director of “The Last Jedi,” came from the same sources as Russian election meddling.
Using the analytical tools that other technologists deployed to uncover Russian influence during the 2016 election, Mr. Bay found that “bots, trolls/sock puppets or political activists” were using the “Star Wars” debate “to propagate political messages supporting extreme right-wing causes and the discrimination of gender, race or sexuality” and that “a number of these users appear to be Russian trolls.” So it seems that it was political operatives, not fans, who were denigrating the movie and fomenting some of the virulent racism and misogyny against its cast.

Read an article on this guy's "research." He ended up basing this on something like sixteen tweets. They make it sound like some big research project with megacomputers. He grabbed his laptop, did some twitter filtering, and "ta-da!"

Anyhow, a 23-year old, pro-Trump coworker of mine (who isn't on Twitter) couldn't stop gushing about it. Said it was the best Star Wars he'd ever seen.
Yes, you’re right. Twitter is full of crazies. The venom spewed against Trump is unbelievable. But he goes there. Supporters might be afraid to post in favour of him, for fear of being blasted, but they’re there.

So, ... Let me get this straight. From now on anything not going the “RIGHT” way is because of Russian interference.
Truth of the matter is that Lucas Films under Kathleen Kennedy has been making garbage movies. Further, the Walt Disney Company's Bob Iger has been making horrible decisions in an attempt to milk the Star Wars franchise. Together they have been killing “the” golden franchise.
When long time fans pointed out these problems via YouTube, they were attacked by Lucas Films and Disney. Then even regular fans were attacked. Basically, the customer was blamed for not buying the merchandise vice blaming the manufacture for producing garbage. The arrogance is appalling!
Disney Star Wars failure has never been political. It has been about common people refusing to pay for political correctness pretending to be entertainment.
I tend to agree. The responses to tweets are as deranged and devoid of redeeming value as the comments on news and opinion articles.

Funny, because when the last one came out I saw dozens of posts that were IDENTICAL pumping up the movie.
If anything Disney is the one gaming the system.
