In The Face Of Impeachment, Trump Is Unchastened (IMPEACHMENT HELD HOSTAGE - DAY 6)
NPR ^ | 12/24/19 | Tamara Keith

Impeachment is the ultimate form of censure, a permanent mark on a president. But there's little indication President Trump has been chastened by last week's impeachment vote. In fact, it's quite the opposite. Trump is leaning in, attacking political opponents in deeply personal terms and setting records for rally length and the sheer volume of his tweets.

"I think it's the new 'not-normal' that we're in right now," said Doug Heye, a former House Republican leadership aide.

The White House has cast the impeachment vote as a politically motivated strategy, and has maintained that Trump did nothing wrong in his interactions with Ukraine's president.

Trump has tried to project a certain nonchalance about it all. "It doesn't feel like impeachment," he told reporters last week in the Oval Office.

"Crazy Nancy Pelosi's House Democrats have branded themselves with an eternal mark of shame," Trump said that night, drawing boos from his crowd. "It's a disgrace."

Toss in a bipartisan vote against impeaching and San Fran Gran Nan looks like a real tyrant.

It sounds like NPR wants a heartfelt apology as part of trumps “sentence.”

Impeachment is the ultimate form of censure, a permanent mark on a president.

Prosecution is the ultimate form of censure, a permanent mark on a citizen.

In both cases, using the logic of NPR, guilt is automatic.

Accusation = Guilt

According to their own star legal mind, DJT hasn’t been impeached until Nazi Pelousy delivers their baseless charges to the Senate in that ornate Cheery wood box.

Innocent until proven guilty?

Ha!

The new standard is:

Guilty by accusation.

The accusation is PROOF of guilt.

(Although I hear Pelosi is open to the idea of the witches dunking chair to test for guilt or innocence, but she’s afraid to publicly espouse it, afraid that AOC will want to administer it to Pelosi first.)

Trump thrives on conflict and is not bothered by this one little bit

The Dems have Trump all wrong
He loves the energy of conflict
If they really wanted to neutralize Him
They would say nothing, and ignore him
But they are just too thin skinned

Impeachment is the ultimate form of censure, a permanent mark on a president.

Not any more. The demoncraps have cheapened it to the point of meaninglessness. The two articles are the ravings of a hubristic enemy whom the President has befuddled and driven insane. President Trump should wear it like a badge of honor.

I’m deeply saddened that American politics has come to this. Impeachment should be reserved for high crimes. President Clinton committed perjury and obstructed justice, but he was acquitted in the Senate as those crimes, as bad as they were, didn’t rise to high crimes.

The Democrats claimed Trump needed to be impeached in a hurry. They even claimed national security was threatened. Yet, they are holding onto the articles of impeachment that should have never been passed in the first place.

Left or right, there are processes that must be followed in a civil society. The power to impeach doesn’t overcome 4th, 5th, and 6th Amendment protections. Like it or not, there are still gray areas in the law regarding Congress’s oversight versus executive privilege. The courts need to be involved.

Like it or not, justice takes time, especially when the supposed offenses are not so egregious as to rally bipartisan and widespread condemnation. If Trump was truly as bad as the Democrats claim, certainly popular opinion would strongly support impeachment, but it doesn’t.

It must really chaff the butts of the NPR crowd that the impeachment vote was 100% partisan. I’m sure the MSM was thinking at least 2 or 3 republicans would play along with the charade so the media could label it “bipartisan”. Crappiest impeachment ever!

IMHO...The Rats thought if they voted to impeach, Trump would finally fold and resign. Now that he has doubled down instead, they don’t know WHAT the bleep to do.

Impeachment is the ultimate form of censure, a permanent mark on a president.

And I suppose Tamara's view on Clinton's impeachment is actually a permanent mark on the repubs who impeached him, right? That's how Leftists view the world....
