From what I’ve heard from my nephew they alternate 00 and slugs in Alaska for bear issues flying in the back country. I figure #4/#3 buck, first two rounds then 00 for the distance issues of course this is for two legged animals.
Buckshot is a big no-no on bears. Their fur really impedes penetration.
