Senator Doug Jones says he may vote to acquit Trump if fellow Democrats fail to 'connect the dots'...

Full Title: "Senator Doug Jones says he may vote to acquit Trump if fellow Democrats fail to 'connect the dots' during impeachment trial as polls show him losing 2020 election in Alabama to Jeff Sessions"

Senator Doug Jones of Alabama says he could vote to acquit President Trump in his upcoming impeachment trial if his Democratic colleagues don’t ‘connect the dots’ and prove his guilt.

The Democrat, who faces a tough re-election fight - possibly against his predecessor, former US Attorney General Jeff Sessions - said the allegations against the president were ‘serious’ but he is open to voting not guilty because of ‘gaps’.

‘I'm trying to see if the dots get connected,’ Jones told ABC News on Sunday.

‘If that is the case, then I think it's a serious matter. I think it's an impeachable matter.

‘But if these dots aren't connected and there are other explanations that I think are consistent with innocence, I will go that way too.

‘What I really want to see, though, is to fill in the gaps,’ he said.

‘There are gaps.’

The Democratic-led House of Representatives approved two impeachment charges against Trump on Wednesday over his pressuring of Ukraine to investigate a political rival, Joe Biden.

There is little chance he will be convicted and removed from office through a trial in a Senate controlled by fellow Republicans.

Democrats are pushing to call top Trump aides to testify, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wants the Senate to consider the case without hearing from new witnesses.

Jones told ABC News on Sunday that he is in no rush to make up his mind.

‘People can make up their mind with gaps in testimony, but I would like to see a full and complete picture,’ the senator from Alabama said.

If you connect the dots they form an arrow that points right at Joe Biden because he is the one who actually did what demonicRATS accuse President Trump of doing.

Power. Its all about power. Power and people sucking up to you. He doesn’t have any life outside Washington and all the lobbyists sucking up to him. And kickbacks from foreign countries.

Democrat Party, Senator, Doug Jones better reverse himself like right now and announce to the entire world that he will positively vote to acquit POTUS, Donald J. Trump from being impeached...with no if, buts or otherwise..period. Otherwise his Senate career will be ended quickly for all eternity. And that is a ditto for Demopcrat Party, Senator, Joe Manchin..period.

In fact there Are at least another five to ten Democrat Party Senators that better vote to acquit POTUS, Trump...period!!! We, the American people and voters are watching all of you Democrats quite closely!!!

Many Senate Democrats know their House compatriots have screwed up with this impeachment and so will find an excuse to vote against removal. They won’t say President Trump is innocent, but will say the House Managers failed to prove their case.

Caretaker is history even if he volunteered to lead President Trump's defense. His only chance would be for Roy Moore to win the nomination, and that's extremely unlikely.

The only way Jones would vote to acquit, IMHO, would be via horse-trading where he knew that President Trump would be removed without his vote, OR he knows that the President will be acquitted regardless.

If his vote is needed to remove the President, he’ll vote to remove, guaranteed.

I could care less.

Why is it that everyone assumes that all the RINOs in the Senate are a shoo-in to vote in favor of Trump???

Sessions turns 73 this week, and Jones may be hoping that health issues finally catch up with Sessions. Beyond Sessions, there’s basically Tuberville (former NCAA football coach) and Moore (who is now pretty condemned by 50-percent of the general Alabama public). Everyone else stepped to the side when Sessions said he’d run again.

Because he doesn’t want to live in Alabama. He enjoys the status, power and elite social networks of a Washington DC Senator, but once he retires he will stop getting invitations to those swank parties and dinners. Live among the plebs and proles in Alabama? How dreary!
