ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE, MARYLAND — Flanked by two fighter jets and in front of a giant American flag, President Trump on Friday signed the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act that officially created the Space Force, the sixth and first new military branch since 1947.
“For the first time since Truman, we will create a brand new American military service,” Trump said. “You will witness the birth of the Space Force. That’s a big moment and we’re all here for it.”

How ironic! Rediculous $ spent on other things, and the Trump ‘conservative’ critics focus on a Space Force.
We really should be asking ourselves this: what does he know that we don’t that causes him to want a Space Force? (I’m not any part of the agency alphabet soup, I don’t know … but he’s been spot-on everywhere else, so let’s assume he’s neither lying to us or crazy and see what that implies.)
We haven’t fallen behind anyone.
The Space Force was spun off because it doesn’t fit the primary mission of the USAF and the zoomies don’t want to run it.
The Army has a Cyber Command. It’s based at Ft Meade.
That’s exactly the reason that the Space Force was spun off.
Now the next step is unify all armed forces HR under one office to eliminate duplication of services. In case you didn’t know, each individual service member already takes care of almost every aspect of their own records-keeping and has for many years. This can be a LEAN (LEAN!) GSA function and not active duty. Revamp the GSA supply and national stock system as well. That got all specialized based on bizarre regulation and whose who lobbied who to get what contracts and regulations instituted. Streamline it big time.
How appropriate that the 6th branch armed force is the United States Space Force one day after opening day of the latest Star Wars movie. Cute coincidence.
This also eliminates the VERY bloated NASA that's under near zero executive control. Now as an armed force the Commander-In-Chief has direct say. The layers of bureaucracy in most 100% civilian federal government agencies is so deep, nobody is in control of them except entrenched, ancient GS workers.

Well, actually, no I won't, I'm only a GS-06, but it'll help.
Just a thought, but maybe he is creating a new bureaucracy to have something outside of the existing ones, that are weaponized against both him and the American people. That way, he has something with its own budget and command structure that wasn't poisoned by Obama.
I just remembered way back to an old Government class where the teacher made the point that it was always easier to create a new bureaucracy than fix an existing one.

We fell behind not because we didn’t have a Space Force. We fell behind because we are stupid to realize space is the HIGH GROUND from where all wars will be fought.
