The House has impeached President Trump, but there are still sticking points about the terms of a Senate trial. What new information might be produced in the trial?

The story of President Donald Trump and impeachment reached a key moment on December 18: House Democrats and one independent voted to impeach the president.
The vote means that Trump has been impeached, but he still serves as president. Its up to the Senate to hold a trial and decide whether to remove him.
Ok? You may have a point!
IBT
President Donald Trump was impeached for abuse of power in a historic vote in the House of Representatives on Wednesday, setting up a Senate trial on removing him from office after three turbulent years.
By a 230 to 197 vote in the Democratic-majority House, the 45th US president became just the third occupant of the White House in American history to be impeached.
The prosecutor convinced a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich.
But because his case was ludicrous on its face, he didn’t file the indictment with the court.
I was taught that impeachment is a charging of high crimes etc. and that does not imply or mean conviction which is the duty of the Senate.
IOW, Johnson and Clinton were impeached but not convicted.
I also find it irritating in surfing the web how many people believe that Richard Nixon was impeached. He was not. Impeachment was being considered by the House but no vote was held.
Apparently quite a few people (asleep during civics class or current public school grads) can’t distinguish between impeachment and conviction.
On a further note, voting “stay at homers” should consider the fact that if the Dems controlled the Senate DJT would be thrown out of office within weeks. Even a jaywalking ticket would have sufficed.
Did you get a tingle with mr obumer like some others?
Not sure where you get your notions, but think you might reconsider?
And by the way your Ecclesiastes tag sometime think I am to the right of ‘Atilla the Hun’!!
Just saw this, was wondering where your post came from?
Take care.........pilgrim
Lastly my dear dreamers, even Trump knows he’s impeached:
“ATROCIOUS LIES AN ASSAULT ON AMERICA,” Donald Trump said on Twitter. Then he went tweetless for a five-hour interlude as the final House debate on articles of impeachment slow-marched into the afternoon and early evening.
Sen. Lindsey Graham checked in on his friend. He passed along what Trump told him. “Well Im being impeached, other than that, Im doing OK,” Trump said. The president’s senior counselor, Kellyanne Conway, fielding questions from reporters in the White House briefing room, said Trump did not view impeachment as a stain on his legacy. “We think its ridiculous, she said.
A White House official told NBC News the president’s reaction was one of “disbelief” that the process had reached this point. Trump left the White House at dusk to fly to Michigan for a campaign rally, not stopping as he often does to parry questions from reporters waiting on the South Lawn. He was onstage when the House roll calls came in for two articles of impeachment, and he let loose.
“THEY’RE the ones that should be impeached. Every one of them,” Trump told the crowd. “House Democrats are trying to nullify the ballots of tens of millions of patriotic Americans,” he said. And who just got branded? “Crazy Nancy Pelosis House Democrats have branded themselves with an eternal mark of shame,” said Trump. He had a new insult for House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff: “not exactly the best-looking guy we’ve ever seen.”
NewJerseyJoe suggests:
McConnell should declare something like this:
“Because the articles of impeachment have been made publicly available, the Senate deems them ‘delivered’ — the House has six hours for their managers to present themselves to participate in the process. Otherwise, we will begin without them, and no one will be allowed to join the process once we’ve started.”
denial is a powerful motivator But we must be truthful above all and words have meanings.
Lastly Tump will win in the senate and in November. Wait till Bloomberg emerges and trump unloads about his performance as mayor of NY.
The Senate has sole authority to try cases of impeachment. Nancy has no authority to even ask the Senate how they plan to conduct the trial, which the Chief Justice of the United States will preside over.
Stuff it Nancy - either pass it over, with grave consequences to the perpetrators of this hoax, or it is a nullity. The Senate has sole authority.
As a committed no more Rino zealot I think I can explain why your argument may not sway the stay at homers. The scenario you describe is sound and true, but they think maybe that is what needs to happen. Who is John Galt? Instead of holding our noses and voting, lets just fight! I may be wrong as I myself have never skipped an election, but that is how I understand the sentiment.
There is no way Trump can fit in a peach. Simply isnt going to happen.
I’m not 100% sure I agree. Jackson was impeached by the House on 11 counts but the Senate only took up 8 of the articles for the trial. Does that mean he wasn’t impeached on the other 3?
IMO, and it’s just an opinion, Trump has been impeached by the House. If they don’t send the impeachment to the Senate, it will just be an historical particularity or ‘an asterisk on the asterisk’.
Troll admits he has been banned twice.
How long until Jim impeaches him and kicks him out?
3...2....1...
The speaker holding on to "the papers" instead of turning them over to the Senate is.
The partisan effort is.
The history leading up to this is.
You can't prove that by the US Constitution. Because it ain't in there.
He's impeached. Period. Full stop.
