I disagree.

I think a clickbait headline is designed solely to get a reader to click open the article, thereby earning ad revenue.

The headline in this story is designed to do so.

I agree with you. I hate clickbait, too. That's why I never read anything on FR, except vanities.

When someone posts an article on FR from another site, I know that they had to click on that article which generated revenue for the other site. This means they are supporting ad generating clickbait sites which I vehemently oppose. Therefore I would be compromising my principles to read any articles posted on FR from other sites.

Besides if I did read the article on FR, how would I know the poster included all the information from the article accurately, including all words, sentences, paragraphs, pictures and links if I didn't go to the actual article.

Uh oh! I just realized I was reading this discussion of the above posted article, and as I mentioned I never read anything but vanities. Whoops! Gotta go. /Sarc

The headline in question was written like an old-fashioned newspaper headline -- it told the reader what the article was about. The quintessential clickbait headline is tantalizing and doesn't give away any information.
