Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg is blasting the Hallmark Channel's decision to pull four television commercials that featured a lesbian couple kissing.
Families are built on loveno matter what they look like, Buttigieg, the first openly gay presidential candidate, tweeted Sunday. Being family friendly means honoring love, not censoring difference."
In other words, "wholesome" Mayor Pete believes the reason for the season is forcing children to watch lesbians making out on the Hallmark Channel.
This truth will be more important than ever as we rebuild our nation into a place defined by belonging, not by exclusion, he wrote.
The commercials featured two brides standing at the altar wondering if their same-sex wedding would have been smoother had they used Zola, a wedding planning site. The ad concludes with the women sharing a quick kiss.
One Million Moms, a division of American Family Association, launched a petition drive blasting the family-friendly networks decision to broadcast the ads.
"Shame on Hallmark for airing commercials with same-sex couples and even considering movies with LGBT content and lead characters," the organization declared in a prepared statement. "Until recently, Hallmark had a good record for keeping their movies and commercials family friendly. Now, parents can no longer trust Hallmark because Hallmark is no longer allowing parents to be the primary educators when it comes to sex and sexual morality."
Thousands of concerned viewers signed the petition, leading Hallmark to backtrack and eventually pull the ads.
The debate surrounding these commercials on all sides was distracting from the purpose of our network, which is to provide entertainment value, Hallmark spokesperson Molly Biwer told the Los Angeles Times.
The Hallmark Channel had already been facing criticism from the LGBT community for a lack of diversity in their Christmas movies. A number of activists have been calling for Hallmark to include more same-sex relationships and kisses.
The reality is the sex and gender revolutionaries want to indoctrinate your children -- whether they are watching the Hallmark Channel or the Disney Channel.
Many of the parents who call my radio program share their frustrations that so much of what is broadcast on network and cable television is not suitable for the entire family. Thats why so many folks who cherish traditional values love the Hallmark Channel.
So ease up, Mayor Pete. If parents want to expose their children to lesbians kissing they can watch Logo TV or Bravo.
You got it.
Hallmark shouldn’t be forced to show lesbian couples. Thats not freedom and liberty. Not every channel has to promote homosexuality.
have you contacted Hallmark?
They are not gone...YET...
If people want it gone, it is guaranteed gone if no one takes next step...Just my opinion, forums are great for spreading information, but what is the point if people dont take the next step?
If want to try to salvage it, need to DO something. Same is true of anything that one considers important...
It is the holidays, everyone is busy. The easiest thing is to sign the Million-Mom or Lifesite petitions which have been mentioned over the past couple weeks.

If everyone does a little, the work is light..
In addition, write to Hallmark and tell them you need to be informed when any ads or movies that include the LGBT agenda so you will know when to turn them off.
My purchasing power is severely reduced, living on Social Security.
However- I have bought my LAST Hallmark item for the rest of my life...such as that may be.
Thank you so much! All that info gives me a great starting-off point for the research I need to do. Appreciate it.
We dropped down to the most basic package, and pulled two of the boxes. With fees, taxes, we may be paying a little more than half of before, but it’s significant.
Good point!!
I didn’t think to mention that point in my email, but I did write and call. Actually a lengthy email...Told them my concerns... Explained how my favorite thing about Hallmark was that they have not been political...Just good family entertainment...and that I had planned to wait and see what they do with movies...Then I mentioned the commercials...
With the commercials airing now, the decision will be expidited...I just don’t feel free to have granddaughter watching at all—my DIL won’t watch either and my daughter is creeped out by idea of seeing women in PDA too...If I wanted that, I would watch other channels...
Problem with ads is that the corporate may not know specific times on commercial...and even if they were to provide times, they can change them...Once seen can’t undo :(
Ironically, I have just signed up for a high-end streaming service that has all 3 Hallmark channels...told them I would be changing that if they move forward with this...If they proceed, I will change to a much cheaper service and just look for the older Hallmark movies on YouTube.
Cannot support their new direction if it continues...But I did my part to try to discourage them...
Hate to lose Hallmark. And did I mention that they own Crayola too :( Guess there is RoseArt for kids school bags...
Or old footage of Barry and Mooshelle.
To queers like Butt-itch, the Grindr app is about love.
Thank you for posting.
I guess this christmas season will be the end of it for me....
I don't care to see gays kissing or acting like their oh so cute.....that is my choice Hallmark.....
