This impeachment has to be the most irrelevant ‘historic event’ ever
NY Post ^ | December 12 2019 | Rich Lowry

Never has history felt less consequential.

The impending impeachment of President Donald Trump is, as news accounts and blaring newspaper headlines tell us, historic. This is true by definition since a president has been impeached only twice before in 230 years.

But everyone knows this history isn’t going to matter much. In fact, the day after the Senate trial ends in inevitable acquittal, everything goes on exactly the same as before (except for vulnerable House Democrats from Trump districts, who will have to defend their votes until November).

As an historic precedence, impeachment has never before been used as a political tool to attempt to overturn the peoples’ votes in a free election.

What if they held an impeachment, and nobody came?

It does appear that the modern socialist dem is entirely in want of self awareness, and does not believe in consequences.

But...but...Chuck Todd said that “everyone will remember where they were” at the time Pelosi announced the impeachment inquiry.

That, right there, is the historic precedent that we will have to live with from now on. Censure will now be replaced with impeachment in the house, nothing but a political tool.

Yes and no.

Andrew Johnson, the first president to be impeached wasn’t elected president but was elected vice-president. So, he was elected by the people.

The House was trying to rid itself of Johnson because he was standing in the way of the Radical Republicans plan to punish the South.

Johnson’s impeachment was a political action to remove a troublesome president.

Irrelevant? Seriously, Lowry?
"everyone knows this history isn’t going to matter much. In fact, the day after the Senate trial ends in inevitable acquittal, everything goes on exactly the same as before,"

No. No, things will not go on the same as before. The Deep State must be outed. Both sides are trying to keep this under wraps, but the people are awake.

It matters to We The People.

The way I've put it is that the House is using impeachment in an unprecedented way to clear the field of opposition to their own unpopular candidates.

The Democrats are doing it not to overturn 2016, they're doing it to stop 2020 from being a disaster for them.

Pelosi is willing to bet the House in a last-ditch ploy to stop President Trump from breaking up the liberal stranglehold on the courts, where liberals ultimately go to get their agenda enacted.

“A new outrage will emerge, dominating news coverage for a few days, to be replaced by another, in the well-established pattern of the Trump era.
How historic is an event, really, if a month afterward the course of American politics is completely unchanged?”

Yup.

I love that Joe Biden is refusing to comply with a subpoena from Congress relative to Congressional impeachment charges against the president for refusing to comply with a subpoena from Congress. Does this mean Joe Biden supports the President? No! This means that President Trump is guilty of obstruction of Congress, whereas, Joe Biden is refusing to allow a known criminal obligate him to testify to Biden criminal activity. He is claiming the Fifth without the obligatory swearing in and responding to questioning. Clearly Joe Biden is a Constitutional Master.

If that is the plan, I think it will backfire on them. They are likely to lose the swing districts that they won in the last election.

Never Trumper Rich Lowry gets it wrong. The Democrats are going to be decimated like the British Labour Party and rendered irrelevant.

Enough! Americans have had enough and these people won’t stop, They will be made to stop and their toxic hatred will be quashed like a bug,

Like the Japanese at Pearl Harbor, Democrats have overreached and have awakened a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve.

It will not end well... for them. Just ask Jeremy Corbyn.

I think they had no other choice - it was a "Hail Mary" play.

I've said before that Pelosi became an irrational decision-maker after the State of the Union flap during the government shutdown, when she disinvited Trump to speak and he revoked her special plane for her European vacation.

Americans should have anticipated how far the Democrats were willing to go after witnessing the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, and that was for a swing seat on SCOTUS. We're now seeing the debasement of the impeachment process because Democrats fear losing an election.

We've seen the Democrats use the IRS to block opposition grassroots groups from forming, use our intelligence apparatus to spy on opposition campaigns, use foreign countries to make up false stories about opposition campaigns and use agents to entrap opposition campaign members, use the FBI to entrap decorated military leaders, falsify warrants, alter evidence, and use state prosecutors to imprison opposition campaign supporters.

There appears to be no limits to how far Democrats would go to try to protect their recent gains.

Maybe President Trump should adopt the "Enough, enough, let's get this done!" slogan for a few months.

The most beautiful word in the English language. I was trying to figure out how I felt and what I want to see next November.

Seeing the UK last night, it clicked and fell into place for me and I found out what I was searching for and what needs to be done.

We need to stomp on the Democrats and kick them to the curb, Then they will know not to mess around with us.

“Enough!” Get used to hearing it. I love it as our rallying cry.
