Stern used to be huge, then he gambled on satellite radio becoming the next television. It didn’t and now he only has a handful of listeners.
Besides, Stern will repulse as many of Hillary’s precious “Suburban Women Voters” as he’ll attract anyone else.
Wyppl were s’pposed to opt for pay radio just like they have pay tv.
Terrestrial radio went latin, chinese, farsi, hindi, etc.
Radio isn’t dead. Corporations consolidated the airwaves and sold out the public.
Audiences dropped the tired playlists and went to streaming services instead.
Everybody I know listens to Sirius these days, including me. But Howard Stern is not included in any of the basic subscription packages. You have to pay a premium to hear him (which I don't).
Howard Stern got more money to go to Satellite then he ever would staying on broadcast radio... So it was a no brainer to cash the check.
Problem was his schtick was being a shock jock.. well on satellite radio, anything goes, so the average person isn’t going to just accidentally tune in and be shocked or outraged...
His audience size is irrelevant, 80 Million a year to go to satellite in the first place, and his new contract bumped it up to 90 million a year.... No way he was going to make that on regular radio.. the ONLY person on regular radio making that kind of money is Rush.
“Stern used to be huge, then he gambled on satellite radio becoming the next television. It didnt...”
Satellite radio is the dumbest thing ever. I bought a car that had it free for a year, I never turned on.
