“86 miles completed!”

New wall or replacement wall? Not that it matters.

The Kushner family and Trump family have been in the construction business for many, many years. They are experts in this field and might be some of the best project managers in the world.

Jared has the experience to manage the project to completion. This actually might be easy for Jared. He will not be dealing with vast weather fluctuations which can delay activities, pushing a project out.

If you can’t trust your family in the swamp....
It seems like almost every White House employee is doing their part for the resistance. If Jared and Ivanka can be there to stand with our President with all loyalty to his goals and wishes, I’m for it.
I think the media and the Democrats will do anything to deprive PDJT of any internal support. Why would we want to help them out by removing his family support systemI wonder.

Your analogy is flawed. It might be a little better if you modified it instead to: "It's like asking the people in charge of reducing crime caused by vagrants entering the city park (e.g. police/law enforcement) what they need to get the job done." Still not very good but at least then the analogy has more direct lines that make sense to be drawn to the real situation. You could imagine that the police in that analogy might ask for new fencing and updated and replaced fencing so that they can control the gates and openings to the park (that were designed to be finite and controlled) more easily with fewer agents and thus more efficiently.

The guys in charge who are being asked are people who are responsible for keeping people from entering the country from our southern border illegally. They have experience with this. The last thing they need is some real estate developer who designs hotels and golf courses to architect the details of the border wall. Trump is a very smart businessman who understands where his expertise is in this matter and where it isn't.

I agree. It seems I’ve seen a lot of complaints by freepers regarding Jared and ivanka, and I really don’t know anything else about them except what is promoted on the MSM. I am sure at the very least they are good people.

Let’s hope Pres. Trump puts the full package out there. This should be part of a Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement bill, missing since 1987 ONE TIME amnesty. The List of Comprehensive Immigration Enforcement, missing since 1987 goes like this -

1) southern barrier;
2) require eVerify to hire;
3) end all chain migration;
4) birthright per Minor v. Happersett (plural parents);
5) end work visas;
6) 10-year moratorium on all new applications for citizenship (40 years to allow workplace automation effects on downsizing population);
7) Set up an illegal aliens’ victim restitution fund.

Enactment of these provisions will motivate illegal aliens to SELF-deport, and remove colonizadors from our welfare rolls.

SAN DIEGO — Smuggling gangs in Mexico have repeatedly sawed through new sections of President Trump’s border wall in recent months by using commercially available power tools, opening gaps large enough for people and drug loads to pass through, according to U.S. agents and officials with knowledge of the damage.

The breaches have been made using a popular cordless household tool known as a reciprocating saw that retails at hardware stores for as little as $100. When fitted with specialized blades, the saws can slice through one of the barrier’s steel-and-concrete bollards in minutes, according to the agents, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the barrier-defeating techniques.

If the bullards are filled with concrete which in the spec there is no way one can saw through with a sawzall in a few minutes. No way!

Do you know the fastest way to clean vagrants out of a park? (Yes, I know this is a side issue and not part of the discussion about walls...)

Have an event that brings in happy middle class families with young children. It’s like kryptonite to Superman - they will slink away so fast you’ll think they’re running.

“Is Jared a case study in nepotism?”

Could be, I really don’t know.

My speculation is that he is just trusted by the President, kind of a right hand man. If he was incompetent, I doubt that he (or anyone else) would not last long in Donald Trump’s employ. Even though he is family, I would expect him to be sidelined if he were unreliable - Donald Trump fired his own brother from the family business.

It might be that he is trying to cultivate Jared and Ivanka for future political office, through a series of developmental assignments.

Reportedly, Jared was instrumental in the 2016 campaign. His father was a Democrat fundraiser (who served time in prison for political fundraising crimes, courtesy of then US Attorney Chris Christie), so he likely has deep insider sophistication on the political issues/motivations of other players.

"Interesting that Michelle Malkin is bashing this."

You and I have discussed this before LS, their is something about her, I don't know what it is, It may have been before then Candidate Trump entered the ring she said or done something and like a light switch my 6th sense kicked in and I flipped into not liking her and look at everything she says and does with a jaundice eye....

To all here on FR, your mileage may vary.

“A mile a day is quite feasable.”

They have a very specific, detailed plan to get there, and it is fully funded.

Barring a court order that holds up awarding contracts with the $3.6 billion of Military Construction funds (Ninth Circuit has recently heard arguments, and said they would issue their ruling soon), or on land acquisition in Texas, we are on track to achieve a mile per day (or faster) pace early next year.

"Smuggling gangs in Mexico have repeatedly sawed through new sections of President Trump’s border wall in recent months..."
The idea that you could construct anything that was impervious to everyone and everything on getting through is silly. You could imagine that criminals could also construct ladders and ramps. The important thing is not to stop everyone, but to stop enough people that your border agents can focus their time on the more industrious and creative criminals. The wall seems to be night-and-day better than what they have had and is having the intended effect of freeing up personnel in sections where it is fully installed. Personally, I don't trust anything WAPO publishes. If they had a headline that water was wet, I'd begin doubting that.

“Fencing?”

They just use that diminutive word to spin perception, and demoralize us.

Those bollards are part of a comprehensive, top of the line package of infrastructure and technology, that the pros call “Wall System”. Barrier that dramatically impedes climbing, breaching and tunneling. High speed, all weather access/patrol road. Cleared fields of observation on the South side, as well as lights, cameras, alarms and sensors.

The combined effect is dramatic.
