The New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) flooded the Broadway subway station in Williamsburg this morning to test a new "flex gate" that's designed to seal off MTA stations from flooding, Business Insider reports.
When a MTA user asked about the flooded subway station on Twitter, MTA replied jokingly "We're pivoting to submarines."
In its next tweet, MTA explained what was really happening.
"We were testing a new 'flex gate,' which is a flood barrier that would allow us to seal off a subway entrance," MTA tweeted. "We 'test flood' the entrance for four hours to make sure it was installed correctly, which it was!"
"We're doing this because climate change is real," MTA added.
The danger of flooded subway stations is real in New York. In 2012, Superstorm Sandy entirely flooded nine subway stations, causing billions of dollars in damage.

All better hope the world is warming rather than cooling because if the world goes into a Little Ice Age, massive starvation will ensue. Food production will diminish 75% to 80%. Grains like warm temps, there is no foode production in cold climes. The growing season is too short.
Some great Hasidic Jewish bakeries within blocks of that subway stop. Kaff’s on Lee Avenue is open till Midnight, and is amazing! Who says Hasids don’t know how to have fun?

You’ve got a much greater chance of being killed or maimed at a NYC subway station than being drowned by a flood there.
Somehow human life has been devalued to the point that anyone can shove anyone off a subway platform and not be charged with murder, or can stab someone they don’t know and end up with a three month hospital stay before they are released out into the public, again.
DeCommie has succeeded, with the help of this his City Council, in make law abiding citizens members of the “Endangered Species” listing.
This was the only way to clean up the piss and sh## and the homeless encampments in the system. Flush and repeat

When will these people catch on to the fact that if there were any real global warming....Mankind will not have caused it in such a way that we would be able to cope with it in a way as to prevent the consequences.
Despite Bill D., NYC is still one of the safest cities in the US and on the planet. (It wasn’t that back before Rudy, etc.)
