CBS News investigation has uncovered a possible pay-for-play scheme involving the Republican National Committee and President Donald Trump's nominee for ambassador to the Bahamas. Emails obtained by CBS News show the nominee, San Diego billionaire Doug Manchester, was asked by the RNC to donate half a million dollars as his confirmation in the Senate hung in the balance, chief investigative correspondent Jim Axelrod reports.
When Hurricane Dorian ravaged the Bahamas in September, Manchester wanted to help. So the San Diego real estate developer, who prefers the nickname "Papa Doug," loaded up his private jet with supplies and headed for the hard-hit Caribbean country where he owned a home and hoped to soon be serving as U.S. ambassador.
A Trump supporter, Manchester donated $1 million to Trump's inauguration fund. He was offered the Bahamas post the day after Mr. Trump was sworn in. Manchester said Trump told him, "I should probably be the ambassador to the Bahamas and you should be president."

My point is the headline is deliberate.
Propaganda, semimojo. Not because it was hard to nuance, but because it was just another day at the Fake News department.
Madeleine Albright was a big Democrat donor who became secretary of state.
Pivot away from the impeachment trial.
They know that Ciaramella and Vindman are going to be shot down. Gotta find a new angle!
OK, but when the media calls out a genuine bad actor we shouldn't get all upset just because he's Trumpy.
Anyone remember that rich Obama era ambassador/mega donor who knew nothing about the country he was being posted to? George Tsunis was his name IIRC.
1. John F. Kennedy’s father BOUGHT the position of U.S. Ambassador to Britain.
2. The entire U.S. history is filled with U.S. ambassador positions filled with persons who were large donors to the election campaigns of the president that appointed them - by both Dim and GOP presidents.
3. You might say without being entirely incorrect, that ambassadorships as a quid pro quo have a time honored bi-partisan history in American politics.
4, So why the complaint now? The “Trump impeachment” deal is really about the arrogant deep state - particularly in intelligence and foreign affairs - complaining that the current president knows all to well that they are not in charge, he is. And they resent it. The Dims are all to happy to grant the arrogance of the Deep State that it should be left to run things and elections don’t matter. Why? The Dims more than the GOP have filled the Deep State with their own - they and the Deep State are a mutual admiration society.
CBS wants Trump to stop looking at Ukraine.
Every Ambassador for 50 years has bought their seat with donations.
This is why the State Dept holds them in such low regards.
They do all they work, the Ambassador gets all the glory.
So, they literally have an e-mail from Hillary leaked called “Pay-to-play” which has the donations to the Clinton Foundation listed in a spreadsheet and there’s silence, but Trump accepts an inauguration donation from someone after he’d already put them in for the position (you don’t get a position like that with 1 day’s notice) and somehow that’s criminal.
Wow.
We have legions of data about Clinton’s illegal acts and not a word from these monsters.
She isn’t listed in the federal database.
