f you thought there werent any major elections until the Iowa caucuses on Feb. 3, guess again. On Saturday, Louisiana will choose between incumbent Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards and Republican businessman Eddie Rispone for governor. And the race down in the Bayou looks increasingly close, so its an open question whether Edwards can once again overcome Louisianas deep red hue to win reelection. Heres where things stand heading into Election Day.

in Louisiana, 60% are against impeachment...this is a local election..very simple.
ELECTION RESULTS
Map Percent Candidate Party Votes
50.3% Eddie Rispone GOP 654,383
49.7% John Bel Edwards* Dem 645,456
Rispone up now by 9,000 votes.
Yes, that's part of the problem. The other part is the need to consolidate behind that better candidate early.
I don't know which of the two Republicans in the jungle primary was the "best" but it's pretty clear that there was not enough time to heal wounds and lock down the "loser's" voters.
My understanding is that it got pretty nasty between the two of them vying for the top R spot in the jungle.
Now, neither of them will sit in the Governor's Mansion.
Republicans better wake up and get out and vote!!! The Democrats know they are dying as a political party, so, they get off their butts and get out and vote...you saw it happened tonight. If only these Republicans would get it and turn out and vote...we could could politically destroy the Democrat Party overnight. Trump gave us his all...!00%. The voters of Louisiana did not support Rispone, Trump and worst of all themselves....SHAME!!!
Anyone know how that one district is doing that the Republicans need fir the super majority?
And when are we going to see the effect of all this Trump black support we keep hearing about? They’re still voting 90%+ in elections everywhere
Voting Dem 90%+ I mean
A 2/3 majority won’t mean that much because there are numerous “Moderate” Republicans in the legislature, many of whom voted for Edwards’ tax hikes.
Got it too
in Louisiana, 60% are against impeachment...this is a local election..very simple.
Gov race is local??
If the state is 60% AGAINST impeachment, then why is this Gov race so tight???
Not understanding your post.
Edwards takes the lead .. hardly any republican vote left .. decent amount of blue votes still.. Edwards won
Never; Trump will get the same black vote in 2020 as he did in 2016, at best a 1 to 3 percent increase of his share.
ELECTION RESULTS
Map Percent Candidate Party Votes
50.3% John Bel Edwards* Dem 701,880
49.7% Eddie Rispone GOP 692,833
Now the babykiller ahead.
You sure are enthusiastic with that post. :(
Didnt Edwards sign a very pro-life bill recently?
Trumps name is not on the ballot....its not a national election.
I hear you.....but, Blacks only make up 31% of the voters in Louisiana....The GOP lost this election for one simple reason only...they did not come out and vote as needed...period. Those African-American votes could have been easily overcome with a strong GOP Voter Turnout.
the GOP SOS has 60% of the votes. That’s a good 100,000 more votes than Edwards. The problem seems to be Rispone
Thats it
I've seen enough. Projection: Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) has defeated Eddie Rispone (R) to win a second term. #LAGOV
