As a general rule...why does any ambassador even think they would remain on the job after a change of administrations? The President can pick who he wants and trusts for those positions. Better just to assume you have to hone your resume the last six months that your president has left.

Non-career ambassadors always resign when a new president is elected.

Foreign service employees acting as ambassadors don’t automatically resign, but absolutely do know they may be asked to resign at the whim of any new administration.

She’s lying if she claims she didn’t know that.

Not that I have any use for her but you don’t hear Caroline Kennedy moaning about being out of her job as Japan’s ambassador.
