At this point, the only reason I can see for this continuing charade is to peel away Trump voters in key swing states and get a narrow win in 2020. There’s no chance the president will be convicted in the Senate but they hope to weaken his approval among enough voters to tip the Electoral College to their nominee. I think the effect will be the opposite. The American people are getting sick of this nonsense.
