I have observed Amy Klobuchar up close for a long time. The first time I saw her in court the court reporter asked her to spell her name for him. The judge asked his court reporter in open court, Good God, man, dont you read the newspaper?
Klobuchars rise in Minnesota politics is attributable in good part to her fathers prominence as a sports reporter and daily columnist for the Minneapolis Tribune. By the time she jumped into electoral politics everybody knew the name Klobuchar.
In Minnesota politics Klobuchar has led a charmed life, but so have a few other DFL politicians who lacked the advantage of a widely known name. Her popularity among Minnesota voters is not a credit to us. From my perspective, the most notable fact about Senator Klobuchar is what a phony she is.
She is not nice. She is not funny. She is not a moderate. She is not an accomplished legislator. She is an incredibly boring speaker.
Klobuchars struggle to lift off in the contest for the Democratic presidential nomination has presented her with a new experience late in life and she is not handling it well. Her mask has slipped a bit as she has complained about the relative success of Pete Buttigieg. Buttigieg has butt in to her presidential fantasy and Klobuchar resents it. Giving voice to her resentment is not smart and not a good look.
Klobuchars public whining is a new look for her. It gives us a glimpse of the other side of her face. If she is able to hang in there, Klobuchar may yet lose the Minnesota presidential primary on March 3. In the meantime, however, she can work on the pretense that she is a gracious loser.

That helps explain why a negative word about her has never been written here in Minneapolistan.
The author had me at “Buttigieg has butt in”
Sure, it's Slovene for "Mondale" ...
A fair, and honest assessment of Amy’s career. She’s a dolt, who rode in on Daddy’s name recognition, and the fact that she’s an extreme leftist.
Don’t want to. She’s dead.
Here in PA though we’ve got Bob Casey, Jr. The ultimate political dolt who lives on daddy’s name.
Wrong Amy. Last name is spelled differently.
She comes across as the Frumper in Chief. Older women should not have their bangs covering one eye (her left one). Bad look. Besides, her speech pattern is worse than Susan Collins’.
Okay - saw the WHINE in there.
Years ago when she first ran for the senate there was a TV ad featuring her family. Her daughter looked about 13 and was one of the most awkward looking girls I have ever seen. It was a time in which she needed her mom yet her mom was busy pursuing her political career.
Selfish woman with the worst voice-its painful to listen to her speak.
Amy made it as far as she is going to in Presidential politics, she has succeeded in getting on a stage with 20 losers and coming in near the bottom.
The main reason the Strib loves her is she is DFL.
Massachusetts has spawned a lot of unsuccessful Presidential candidates, but also four who made it (John Adams, John Quincy Adams, John F. Kennedy and George Herbert Walker Bush).
Tim Pawlenty was the other Republican from Minnesota (governor of Minnesota 2003-2011, failed Presidential candidate for the 2012 nomination) whose name I was trying to recall. Forgettable figure and forgettable name.
Yes, Chuck Heaton. He was even a guest on an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond as himself. The conservative, pro-life movement is fortunate to have Patricia Heaton on its side in Hollyweird. Plus, shes a great comedic actress.
George Herbert Walker Bush)...Ronald Reagans biggest mistake..trashed everything Reagan did the first day..
Whinehouse , I thought that was pretty clever and funny. I got it right away. Sometimes a “/s”, Sarc tag is appropriate, especially if I’m reading this late at night. Make it a Wonderful Day!
