Editors at the Northwestern University student paper "The Daily Northwestern" on Sunday issued an apology for what it called "mistakes" in its coverage of a campus event last week featuring former Trump Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
Sessions, who served a tumultuous term as attorney general under President Trump from 2017 to 2018, announced a bid to win back his Alabama Senate seat last week. He spoke at Northwestern on Nov. 5 amid heavy protests.
The editors at the paper from well-known journalism school specifically noted the photos taken at the event in their apology, noting that some students had found them to be retraumatizing and invasive and adding that those photos had been taken down.
"The Daily sent a reporter to cover that talk and another to cover the students protesting his invitation to campus, along with a photographer. We recognize that we contributed to the harm students experienced, and we wanted to apologize for and address the mistakes that we made that night along with how we plan to move forward," reads part of the apology.
"One area of our reporting that harmed many students was our photo coverage of the event. Some protesters found photos posted to reporters Twitter accounts retraumatizing and invasive. Those photos have since been taken down," it adds.

There was a time where higher education encouraged debate. Opposing ideas, conflict resolution, diversity of thought.
Kids are wasting money on liberal arts education dumbed down to the very lowest common denominators. There’s no value anymore.
Bunch of pansies.

The online reaction to the paper’s apology was swift from across the spectrum, with most arguing that Northwestern, a university with one of the top journalism programs in the country, was abandoning the basic tenets of reporting.
Snowflake alert. Close all journalism schools and require these folks to take up something productive like nuclear physics.
No different from the Brownshirts and Maos' Red Guard.
This will stop when people in charge learn to say, 'No'.
Capitulation solidifies their power.
Michael Savage says America is finished after Trump leaves office. Stories like this make me agree with him. One day these students will RULE US. They can’t work productively, so they will enter politics. Their fellow robots will elect them, and they will be the majority. God help this nation then.
In my fantasy world there is a law that if any kid disrupts a speaker on campus, the result is automatic expulsion and the university keeps the balance of his tuition that must be donated to the speaker’s cause.Raise a lot of money for Republican causes that way
I wish we still had Sam Kinnison to have a little walk with them.
They didnt like being photographed because they were acting like fascist thugs.

You got it! If they are so confident of the righteousness of their actions, they shouldn’t be concerned about being photographed. I think everyone should see them in action — like prospective future employers.
“talk”
Please clap.
The pantywaists at NU need to mentally picture this. During WWII a US fighter pilot managed to return to his carrier even though the plane was severely damaged. The crew of the carrier were able to extract the pilot from his plane. The plane took a direct hit in the area directly behind the pilot. This is where the gunner sat with his back to the pilot to protect the plane from enemy aircraft approaching from the rear and out of view of the pilot.
The gunner died immediately on impact of the antiaircraft projectile, and the damage to the plane made it impossible to extract the gunner from the plane. The sailors had to push the plane overboard with the gunner still in the plane. They then had to immediately resume their duty stations and continue to receive other planes returning from their mission against the enemy.
Those crew members were the same ages as the snowflakes at Northwestern University who can’t stomach a picture of Jeff Sessions.
Every student at NU should be required to read The Dead and Those About To Die by by John C. McManus. The book is about D-Day and the Big Red One at Omaha Beach. On second thought, they may become so traumatized that classes would have to be suspended for who knows how long.
So the students of this journalists school went out and protested Sessions. Their photos was taken while protesting and are traumatized by it? They think they are exempt? No they are not. It was a public event. If they cant handle the consequences, dont do it.
The apology

Democrats are evil scum.
They are upset that their pic was taken while protesting Sessions. This is a journalist school. They think they are exempt Its mind boggling.
It's getting pretty bad. This endless capitulation to thugs can only lead to destruction of every social, political, stabilizing norm.
Trump is a speed bump on the highway to fascist control.
Unless he can re-establish control of our courts, illegal immigration, political debate etc., what happens after Trump is anyones' guess.
They are children, Jim, adult children. They may grow old, but they will never grow up. They will need mommies and daddies throughout their entire lives.
I wouldnt be surprised if college is divided into private specialty schools only very soon.No more easy useless degrees.
