A growing number of Republican lawmakers are urging Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin, a fellow Republican, to either provide evidence of the voting irregularities he has alleged or concede Tuesdays election to Gov.-elect Andy Beshear, who defeated him by 5,189 votes.
The best thing to do, the right thing to do, is for Governor Bevin to concede the election today so we can move on, said Rep. Jason Nemes, R-Louisville.
Senate President Robert Stivers, R-Manchester, first raised the possibility of the tight election being decided by the Republican-led legislature Tuesday night when he explained the process that would occur if Bevin decided to challenge the results of the race. Bevin bolstered that speculation Wednesday by claiming that thousands of absentee ballots were counted illegally without presenting any proof to back up his claim.
Republicans in the legislature arent buying it.
Nemes said he has not seen much support for an election challenge among his Republican colleagues in the House, largely because the governor has not backed up his claims. None of the lawmakers the Herald-Leader spoke to Thursday said they had seen evidence to support Bevins claims.

I agree. The Republican Party is too wimpy when
it comes to challenging close losses. The
Republicans should go over this election with
a microscope. Force the commie Democrats to prove
they won it fair and square.
Bevin is DESPISED by everybody. He’s an arrogant pirck.
I have no problem believing he lost when all the other GOP candidates won.
He has no one to blame but himself.
He was down 17 points just a few weeks ago! Trump shows up for a rally at thr last minute and he comes just a few thousand shy. I am sure they thought they could get him over, but trump visiting a state is not simply about this election its about his election next year just as much. Which is why he keeps doing these rallys all over the place.
Bevin was a weak and bad candidate, and Trump still nearly pulled him over the line.
Sometimes you have a bad candidate, when they lose that isnt fraud
Given the things he has said including just before the election calling for tolls on bridges in northern Kentucky, yes, that is not a surprise that many people would not have voted for him that typically would have voted Republican. Those northern Kentucky counties are colored blue on the election map - they are a Republican stronghold. He would have won them by ten points at least - instead, he lost them by ten points, while the other Republicans won them handily. Had he not made those comments, it would have almost certainly been just enough for him to win. He drove the final nail in his own coffin, after turning many others against him by claiming the rallies teachers groups were holding in Frankfort would cause child molestation and that they caused a child to be shot and killed in another instance. Beshear didn’t defeat him - Bevin defeated himself. The fact that this electorate was ultra pro-Republican that turned out is the only reason he did not lose by 15 or more points.
I wish that Trump rally had been held at an arena in western Kentucky or even south eastern Kentucky rather than in Lexington - the anti-Trump turnout was also boosted in Lexington, a heart of liberalism in Kentucky and much more highly populated than most other counties. The venues in these areas would have been smaller than Rupp Arena, but would have excited and boosted turnout entirely among a conservative constituency...and it would not have taken much to tip Bevin over the top - just a couple percentage points of higher turnout would have provided the votes. Western Kentucky often feels “left out” of the rest of the state’s affairs and doesn’t turn out in as large of numbers in state elections - a presidential visit would have certainly changed that. Bush held a rally in Paducah in 2003 during that governor’s race - it made a huge difference in the turnout in that area of the state not used to that kind of attention.
Stop making yourself look ignorant.
Begin was down in every poll taken, except for one release yesterday that obviously was wrong... he never had a lead.

Bevin was a bad candidate who Trump nearly saved.. but he has been way behind the entire cycle... There is no excuse for being so ignorant with the internet at your fingertips.. let alone attack me for telling the truth you refuse to believe due to your ignorance.
Bevin has been behind in every public poll during this election, pretty significantly, with the sole exception of one that came out yesterday...
Trump nearly carried him over the finish line, but claiming he wasnt behind or the polling was bogus is nonsense.
Honestly don’t care if he is a prick or not. 5000 votes is well in the margin of DNC fraud in a state wide election. Swearing in is in January. Pay for a recount and validate it! Time we put rats on notice that ALL elections are going to be validated. With all the illegals in this country, verify it!
No. It needs an investigation. Too weird.
The strategy is to first vote all Democrat/Socialists out of office. President Trump needs a majority to get things done.
We dont win by clinging to a misguided ideological purity by voting for a third party candidate that allows another radical leftist criminal in office.
In 2022 we vote Rinos out.
Well there has to be a reason republicans won all the Dow ballots and lost the governor slot. They clearly hate Bevins.
That would be the end of the GOP right there
Of course the crypto-liberals and NeverTrumpers here
would be happy
So those anti bridge toll people think
the (D)generate wont enact a toll either?
Trump could have still gone to KY, to stump for everyone else...as he should.
It was Trump's rally. Looks like Bevin should not have been invited based on all I'm reading about him.
Don’t know, but if the Democrat does support it he was smart enough not to make a point of announcing that just before those people would be heading into the polls.
Bevin had many issues but he has lived in Kentucky since 1999 long before he ever sought public office. He is not a carpetbagger.
He ticked off the leech teachers and their union. Andy Bashear is a piece of garbage who will raise taxes so the whiny snowflakes can retire after 20 years and receive a pension equal to their salary and free healthcare.
Bevin is not a prick with ears, he just ticked off the teachers and their union by messing with their pensions. The Democrat Andy Bashear is the son of the previous governor and he was the Attorney General during Bevin’s tenure. Bashear did everything in his power to obstruct Bevin. Sound familiar?
As evidenced by the election results, the good voters of Kentucky approved of him obstructing Bevin. They elected him Governor.
He is not a carpetbagger.
I based my categorization of Bevin based on verifying what I had heard on a couple of talk shows (he was indeed born in Colorado and raised in New Hampshire).
Therefore, by today’s standards, I don’t feel I am wrong in labeling Bevin as such an opportunist.
At any rate, it’s regrettable that Bevin lost to a second-generation Kentuckian (Beshear).
“I dont feel I am wrong in labeling Bevin as such an opportunist.”
Well as the saying goes - facts don’t care about your feelings.
