Republicans urge Bevin to provide proof of election fraud or ‘let it go’ and concede
Lexiington Herald Leader ^ | November 7, 2019 | Daniel Desrochers

A growing number of Republican lawmakers are urging Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin, a fellow Republican, to either provide evidence of the voting “irregularities” he has alleged or concede Tuesday’s election to Gov.-elect Andy Beshear, who defeated him by 5,189 votes.

“The best thing to do, the right thing to do, is for Governor Bevin to concede the election today so we can move on,” said Rep. Jason Nemes, R-Louisville.

Senate President Robert Stivers, R-Manchester, first raised the possibility of the tight election being decided by the Republican-led legislature Tuesday night when he explained the process that would occur if Bevin decided to challenge the results of the race. Bevin bolstered that speculation Wednesday by claiming that thousands of absentee ballots were counted illegally without presenting any proof to back up his claim.

Republicans in the legislature aren’t buying it.

Nemes said he has not seen much support for an election challenge among his Republican colleagues in the House, largely because the governor has not backed up his claims. None of the lawmakers the Herald-Leader spoke to Thursday said they had seen evidence to support Bevin’s claims.

As if the pattern of the votes where 100,000 voters went for GOP minor offices but did not vote for governor was “ typical”

He should do as Stacy Abrams in Georgia - just declare himself the governor, no matter what. He even has a much better claim to it than she has.

Isn't it curious that a Communist rag says that Republican lawmakers want a cheated candidate to just shut up and concede?

We are getting closer and closer...

I think there was a libertarian candidate that took a lot of votes.

They throw each other under the bus at the drop of a hat, but fight against a communist? Oh no, that’s not allowed.

It is TYPICAL when the Governor is as unpopular s Bevin is...

You do realize he was down 17 points just a few weeks ago, its a miracle, and a statement to TRUMP’s ability to get votes that he got within a few thousand votes.

You aren’t making up 5k votes with fraud allegations folks... Bevin lost... He was behind the entire race... he angered and disenfranchised too many voters.

Nothing more complicated or nefarious than that.

"A growing number of Republican lawmakers are urging Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin, a fellow Republican, to either provide evidence of the voting “irregularities” he has alleged or concede ..."

That, in a nutshell, is precisely what's wrong with the GOP... It's no wonder why the communists beat them like dogs at almost every turn... It's no wonder why the communist party continues rolling up state after state into it's domain...

Given how unpopular Bevin was yes.

This is exactly the same argument Gore made in Fl in 2000. It was wrong then, it is wrong now.

Always let it go. Democrats would count until they win.

As if the pattern of the votes where 100,000 voters went for GOP minor offices but did not vote for governor was “ typical”

(a) Bevin was uniquely unpopular in Kentucky

(b) There was a Libertarian candidate for Governor who got way more votes than the margin between Bevin and Bashear

(c) If the Dems were going to cheat, why wouldn't they cheat all across the board?

Libertarian didn’t cost Bevin, BEVIN cost BEVIN....

Like it or not, he angered and alienated too much of the electorate.. its a testament to Trump that he even got close.

But in the end he lost.... fraud or third parties are not why.... he was a bad candidate, who lost... he angered and alienated too many voters... every other GOP for statewide won by 100k or more... He lost, that’s not fraud, that’s a bad candidate.

“A growing number” to a left wing newspaper could mean 2 or even 1. “None of the lawmakers they talked to” could even mean 0.

It’s too early to throw rocks at the Republicans, in general.
