WASHINGTON (AP) — Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions will announce he’s running for his old Senate seat in Alabama.
Sessions is expected to make the announcement on Thursday. His decision to run was confirmed to The Associated Press on Wednesday by two Republicans with direct knowledge of his plans. They were not authorized to discuss it publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.
Sessions long held the seat he will now pursue but stepped down to serve as President Donald Trump’s first attorney general. He was ousted after enduring public mocking from Trump for recusing himself from special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.
The GOPe is exactly what Jeff Sessions never was.

Sessions was an unwitting stooge for the deep state. Trump can’t stand him.
I said he was the best senator we’ve had in ages. Nothing to do with his crappy stint at DOJ. As a legislator, there is no one more solid.

I would suggest he spend his remaining days formulating an explanation. He best have a damn good one.
Byrne’s got solid conservative credentials, as I understand, but I hear Tuberville leads the polls. During football season, it will be hard to displace him.
I predict that Trump will endorse Congressman Bradley Byrne, who seems quite solid.
No way will he endorse Sessions. Jeff Sessions past his sell-by date.
Roy Moore, you may recall came under relentless attack from the Establishment Republicans and false charges from dubious women, becuse he was a devout Christian and devoted defender of the Constitution. Yet you keep singing that same song, give it a rest.

There might be a lot of stupid republicans in Alabama that will vote for him, but there are a lot of pissed of people all over the country that will contribute to his opponents in the primary or even general. We don’t need another Romney.

I joined this site in 2001, and have posted semi-regularly for 18 years, never once about Jeff Sessions... all as a cover to hide my true identity as a “Sessions troll.” Yep. you caught me. Congrats on a job well done.
He was a stooge, but I don’t think he was unwitting. You don’t get far in politics by being unwitting.
Trump needs to make sure that this little terd stays put. We don’t want Brutus and Cassius in the Senate.
