President Donald J. Trump has decided to restore convicted SEAL Edward Gallagher’s pay grade to chief petty officer, overriding a decision last week by the Navy’s top admiral, Fox News reports
“This president recognizes the injustice of it,” Pete Hegseth said during Fox and Friends after speaking with the president. “You train someone to go fight and kill the enemy. Then they go kill the enemy the way someone doesn’t like, and then we put them in jail or we throw the book at them.”.

Agreed. Only partial justice is done. Unless everyone involved in doing this to Chief Gallagher get serious retribution, the offenders will remain in their positions and will do it again. JAGs nowadays are nothing but lawyers wearing military uniforms.
I hope Trump overrules these Obama officers until they are embarrassed and resign.

OUTSTANDING. I suspect he was already welcome in most Chief’s Messes, but this fixes an injustice. His ONLY conviction was “wrongfully posing for an unofficial picture with a human casualty”, which might warrant a verbal reprimand or even a Letter of Instruction. But it doesn’t even come close to justifying stripping a Chief of his Anchors, and imprisoning him for 8 months.
Now it’s time for RADM Green to get over his personal obsession with Chief Gallagher, abandon his plan to strip him of his Trident, and allow him to move on. Green is going through an IG investigation himself, and has much bigger problems than Gallagher.
But he is good a firing people.

That’s the thing. In military, a junior can’t take the fall unless a more senior does. The commissioned officer was in the photos as well as others. No charges to anyone else in photos not even administrative. Explain that one.
